For all you singletons out there, there’s a quirky café in Japan that ensures you’ll never dine alone again.

Called theMoomin Café’, it has a policy of loaning solo-dining customers with a stuffed animal to keep them company.

Based on a series of Swedish-Finnish books about a family of hippopotamus-like creatures, the adorable stuffed characters will sit there intently as you finish your coffee or meal.

To those ‘forever alone’, do you think it’s a good idea?

I need to know if Japan perceives this as weirdly as it would be in the States. It just seems like they get away with some crazy strange stuff over there.

they have places where you can go and sit with cats for hours. It is because owning a cat is hard to do out there and expensive and land lords won't allow it. So you can rent cats.

Hmmm i'd go. Strike up a conversation with the stuffed animal just to see what kind of looks i get.

I'd bring my own. I think theirs look boring. I'd bring my wife, too. But she could sit at her own table with her own animal.

Just about everyone at the Starbucks I am at right now would have one of those cute stuffed animals (myself included)
