A bit of everything, most excited about playing WvW with a guild, but also looking forward to PvE, sPvP, and fun guild events, I was really excited to hear about your 51 charr mesmer event and I am look forward to helping orchestrate more fun things like that.
Which previous MMO's or online games have you played and how long for?
I've played WoW for a number of years. Under 400 days of game time. I dabbled a little in Ragnarok online, had a dorm-mate that played a lot of Asheron's Call.
Were you a part of a guild? What was your experience?
I played in 3 guilds (one changed it's name once). The first one wasn't long lasting, was with friends from RL, but they all stopped not long into it. The second started out as a small guild (it was lots of fun at first), but turned into, over the years, into one of the top hardcore Guilds. I eventually came to the conclusion that it was more work than it was fun and stopped playing for a bit. I eventually came back to the game and joined another large guild which did do raids, was well behind the world first, but they had a focus on playing with people who were fun to play with. That was always great fun - the guild was a large reason I kept playing the game for so long. Eventually I was only playing to spend times with my guildies, but had to stop due to lack of time to play.
How did you hear about the Guild?
I was looking at gw2guilds.org going through the largest guilds checking out their descriptions and websites. Your description struck me as the right fit for me. Many guilds were focused on talking about how hardcore they could be or how many games they have hopped between, but your description was focused on promoting fun and finding people you would enjoy playing with. I also watched a few hours of your podcasts on youtube. The fun attitude from Tristan and the ... man-o-man ... the faces from Bruce convinced me this would be a fun guild to be in. We might have to find out a way we can get some picture in picture when playing with Bruce; only hearing his voice cuts out about two thirds of his communication.
I realize I can't always play with two people out of a guild of a few hundred, but those attitudes should have a big impact on the type of players that will stick with the guild.
What will you bring to the ALTTABME community? (Chatty? Skilled? Funny? Helping?)
I'm always tempting to answer this question with humility, but it's not easy. I am pretty laid back which often has a very positive effect on keeping drama from rising. I have a fair amount of experience stamping out perspectives and attitude that lead to drama before it does (not forcefully, but helping people understand what other people feel when they act that way). I tend to easily make friends by not being too uptight or judgmental. I enjoy being helpful when it comes to assisting people learn more about the game. I may not have tons of time to play, but I'm into the math and theory-crafting behind what works and doesn't and often have a good idea of questions that arise; I'm very detailed oriented and have a good memory for specifics in that manor. I am quite good at most games I play. I have had a good amount of success on the early sPvP in the beta.
Will Arcanix be the only guild you join?
Yes, if Arcanix will take me.
Is there anything else you would like to throw in here at the end?
I hope I wasn't too long winded; you did bring it on yourself when you asked one to put time into the application. ;-) I am really looking forward to some WvW with a squad from the guild and coming up with new ideas for extraordinary events. I hope you'll at least give me a trial to speak with some guild members actually in the game. I'll be on this exciting Saturday (8/25) and I'll message some of the guild leaders if I don't hear from you by then (I can see why this would be a very busy week for you, but likely not as busy as next week ;-)
