Guy gets ticketed for NOT riding in bike lane.

I as a car driver has to state that he totally deserves his ticket, because bike riders are the second most annoying people to encounter on streets (right after the eldery).
 
I can't blame bikers for doing what they do, be it for health, environment, economical, or convenience. But if you're an asshole on the road, you deserve to get hit.
 
Must be a New York thing never had a problem in Chicago or California (ticket wise). I do dislike when bikers are not in the bike lane when i'm driving but i can see why they do it there is always people parked in the bike lane or something blocking it, so if the police want to make people ride in the bike lane they need to enforce people not parking there or obstructing it.
 
I think there's room for common sense here. I didn't see in the video where he was riding when he got the original ticket. If it was unsafe for him in the bike lane at that time, then the ticket was bs. Otherwise, he should have been in the lane and the ticket is legit. Whether other people get in trouble for the wrong things they do or not has no bearing. Him being a smartass and running into stuff later doesn't prove a thing to me.
 
The bike lane is a joke in NYC. Also there is no law saying you have to ride in it.

Also I think people are missing the irony here.

Reminds me of almost getting hit by a car last week while cycling to a shop, the guy only looked left and not right when I was approaching, just when I was in front of him he started accelerating until he saw me and pushed the breaks.

Or maybe this morning when there was no bike lane and I had to take a left turn some idiot just stopped his car in front of me, he clearly could see that even if I didn't take a left turn the bike lane was blocked (yet again).

And let's expand this a bit, bike lanes in my neighbourhood are shit.
Holes here and there which make it very dangerous for me, but hey atleast the government doesn't give a shit about repairing the road for the cars.

And truck drivers and their trailers... man they have to block everything don't they? Making you take a whole detour when the driver could just move the damn thing a bit, the engine was running and he was in there too!

Basically: Motorvehicle drivers just don't give a crap about cyclists.

Basically, I don't see a problem with cyclists riding their bicycle in front of your car.
You should have some patience, unless the cyclist is really an asshole when he drives in the middle of the street instead of the side of the road and unnecessarily obscures every car's path, then you have all the rights to be irritated.
 
Yeah the bike line is about as safe as driving in the middle of the street here.. There's always vans parked there, construction going on, etc. This is why I am hesitant to own a bike in NYC.

I roller bladed for awhile until I hit a pothole and ended up under a car. That was shitty haha.

Where's Waldemar when you need him?

When I was in Amsterdam, the bikes ruled the road. They just did pretty much whatever they wanted and cars and pedestrians had to keep out of their way.
