Do you have one?
What is it?
Have you had one before?
What was it?
Did you fail or succeed?
Did you care?

Every year I say something, then the next day ignore I even said it. This year I will hold a "New Year's Resolution is to have no Resolution". But, in theory, by have the resolution to have no resolution, I have failed my resolution again by having the resolution, which I could ignore by not doing the resolution, again by failing to social standards of having a resolution without the guilt of actually failing a productive resolution.

Wait, wut?

My resolution this year is to put myself first. That will be a real challenge since I am happiest by making other people happy, but that doesn't usually involve putting myself first. So, this is a first time resolution for me... and it should be an interesting 2013 as a result.

I never realy had a yearly plan to do. Now i have. To get back on my feet. This herniation destroyed a lot. It didnt help me with the final exams and my 18th summer. But this year i am going to get even healthier. And i was lucky enough to get to collage. I always consider 13 to be my lucky number. Even if it isnt, i ll force it.

New Years Resolution: lose fat mass. Last year I didn't lose weight, I just gained muscle mass from Aikido, resulting in net weight gain with no real BMI change. This year - lose 20-40% of my spare tyre with help from my fiancee.

Oh yeah, I got engaged on the 24th BTW. I guess I'll make a resolution to start wedding planning too XD

Attempt to not spend every waking moment of my life at work. Lose weight(hah good luck me) and finally settle down in my own place and try to work school around my ridiculous work schedule.

Congratulations Dire! How exciting (and exhausting...LOL) wedding planning can be! Have a wonderful time of it, and best to you and your betrothed.

I actually don't do or believe in new years resolutions. I think they are just a way of making lazy people (like me) feel good about themselves for a day or two. I don't know of anyone who actually kept any new years resolutions.

Having said that I want to work on getting back into shape since I felt so much better at a lower weight. I want to work on my sculpting and other arts like painting and leatherworking and such. I want to save up for and get the motorcycle I been eyeing for a year now. And finally I would like to buy a house this year.

Grats on the engagement!

My resolution is to handle my shit financially. I sort of like to spend money on shiny things, having no real need for them.
Other than that...nah, just be happy :)

One of the best ways to get your money in order is get quicken. Its a financial program that you can link to your bank accounts and it will track where all your money goes. Food, bills, entertainment, etc. Just seeing how much you spend on each thing each month can make you really conscious when you are spending money the next time and help you make better decisions.

Oh, totally! I have a little spreadsheet in excel that I use, and that definitely helps a lot. Also, setting lines and limits for myself is really good and my GF is so amazing at being supportive and understanding and helpful.

In response to you wanting to get back into shape...I'm like, super hardcore into fitness. I almost sometimes wish that I was still ignorant in regards to food, food production, food industry and health in general. Knowing stuff is awesome, but they were right when they said "with great knowledge comes great responsibility"....wait...that's not right....hehehehe

Bur srs, if you're interested, let me know. We can have a chat. :)

Ya, I know what I need to do, I'm just lazy. I am a huge devourer of knowledge and got on a kick last year of how to lose weight. I found that what would probably work best for me is the paleo or primal diet with high intensity strength training. I stuck to the diet pretty easy after I trained my body to not be carb dependent but only stuck with the workout for 6 weeks.

Just with the diet I lost over 40 pounds in about 11 months. 32% body fat down to 23%. Then I got lazy with my diet and gained it all back. Trying to make my motivation to go to the gym coincide with actual times I could go was my biggest downfall for the workouts. I plan on picking up a home gym from craigs list for about $150 since I know I have times I would work out if I had the stuff here to do it. I know what I need to do, its just a matter of doing it really.

Well that's good. I am in a fitness group on Facebook that really has helped me stay motivated and strong through the tough times. If you're interested in that, let me know. They are very open and non-judgmental and very knowledgeable as well. I have made some awesome support contacts. Losing weight is really hard. I have done very well this past year myself. Now I am aiming for about 18-20% BF and sick ass strength.
Have you tried powerlifting or oly moves?
I have a home gym! Working out barefoot and in my underwear is awesome. Just sayin'.

My News Years resolution is to improve my work ethic. I have a lot of people counting on me this coming year, but the most important is myself. For my own sake especially, I have to give 100% for everything and stop being content with my usual 80% effort. This is in regards to everything: my personal appearance, academics, and my personal relationships with friends and family. The only way I'll have no regrets this upcoming year is to give my all.

My New Years Resolution is to finish the outline of my novel. I discovered something called National November Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo :) It was so much fun, but I discovered it at the end of November..so obviously I didn't get much done. Hopefully throughout the year I'll have random times I can make this happen.

Also, congrats on the engagement, diremongoose!! That must be super exciting and fulfilling..

In the past I would make resolutions- usually to get in or stay in shape. I generally would become apathetic about it, because otherwise I'd end up disappointed either in myself or the lack of results. The last 10 or so years I've just not bothered. I definitely want to lose weight this year, but a "New Years Resolution" seems unnecessary. I know that setting short term and long term goals is supposed to be a great motivator, but it never seems to work on me. I guess I'm too much of a cynic.
