In the past I was always raid focused, it always made more sense to me than focusing on PvP. I was a pretty good tank in WoW, to the point of surprising my guild leader so much that he actually bumped me to the main-tank spot on the core group. (Suck it, Trebeck!)
Then I stopped playing WoW because WARHAMMER came out. I'm a HUGE Warhammer fan and it was like a dream come true. However, I was not prepared for how PvP focused it was (entirely goddamn focused). I spent a year or two learning the ropes and fell in love with PvP, specifically open world PvP and keep sieges.
So, in Wildstar I want to do it all. The combat looks fluid and interesting enough to make raiding fresh and fun, while also making PvP truly skill based and action-y!
Which previous MMO's or online games have you played and how long for?
WoW - about 5 years; WAR - about 3 years; Guild Wars - 6 months (didn't like it); SW:ToR - about a year (was there for all the horrifying launch bugs); TF2 - release - present; Dawn of War - release to present; Dawn of War II - release to present; Diablo II - 10 years or so, now.
Were you a part of a guild? What was your experience?
I have only been a part of one guild that I ever truly enjoyed and that was the Kobayashi Maru in World of Warcraft. That guild was the only reason I think I played WoW half as long as I did as the leadership was strong and the members were friendly and loyal to a fault. However, due to real life issues among very nearly the entirety of the core group the guild disbanded and most if not all quit playing WoW for a long time.
I stayed guildless for the whole of my experiences in the other games, notably WAR as I played that the longest post-warcraft. I never found a group of people that really clicked in any of those games and chose to remain unaffiliated with any guilds in particular, though I did make many friends while tearing down the doors of keeps all over the old world.
Playing with a solid group is definitely better than being a solo shut-in, though, so that's why I'm here!
How did you hear about the AltTabMe?
I am pretty active over on WSC, and I saw the recruitment ad over there.
What will you bring to the ALTTABME community? (Chatty? Skilled? Funny? Helping?)
Depending on the situation I can be pretty talkative, though the more people involved the less I seem to talk. I used to lead raids for my old guild in WoW so I know how to manage a group when we start to get into business end of things.
I can be pretty helpful, as I generally try and learn the entirety of a game as fast ass possible so that I can be as personally knowledgeable as possible (knowing is half the battle!). I hated being that guy that did't know anything and asked all sorts of stupid questions only to get told I was a noob or to "look it up.. noob", so I try to help out people where I can, if I can.
As far as skill, I will say that I don't spend weeks on end number crunching and I really have no idea what theory crafting even is, because I actually like to play the game and learn from my mistakes.. while still playing. Like I said up top, it got me the top tank slot in my guild, so I have to be doing something right?!
How much time do you spend a week on games?
Pretty much none right now. I play a lot of PS3 these days, but nothing that serious or time consuming. However, I'll probably get monstrously addicted to Wildstar when it comes out, so that'll change more than likely.
Is there anything else you would like to throw in here at the end?
I'm a laid back guy, though I can be pretty passionate about things I find interesting (let's hear it for the herpetologists!). I live in, and love Florida. I have a large collection of hawaiian shirts. I still play with toys, and despite all that I have a girlfriend. Kingdom of Heaven is my favorite movie, and Catch 22 is my favorite book. I play hockey, but I don't watch it. I think that pretty much covers it.
Have you finished all of the prerequisite requirements?
Yes (I read and replied to the rules, I understand I must be active on the forums to stay on the roster, and I have a minimum of 1-2 posts(other than this application), and I made sure those posts weren't just bullshit)
