It's really sad but stats and gear barely matter when leveling up because you do it it quickly and most of the time it's with a zerg of people. That's why you save all your money for the pretty weapons you like the look of rather than the stats associated with it ^^
Nahku, even if you get full new greens every 10ish levels you'll still don't spend that much! a few silver each piece and you can vendor them when you're done with them for almost the same price you got them for XD
Nuuuuuu.. the second I open up that TP window it's never "ok, buying an axe and I'm out.." It's always "ok, axe bought let's go get th.... OOoooh shiney! I think I want that dye. Should I buy mats to level leatherworking? How are prices on gemstones right now? I wonder what minipets prices look like..." etc.. Then I'm broke.
In general, I don't buy gear while leveling, but sometimes, if you go 5-10 levels without an upgrade in a slot, it can be REALLY hard to resist. My drug of choice has been karma vendors, which is probly worse than blowing currency in the TP.
