Watch a gamer combine a VR headset with an omnidirectional treadmill
Oculus Rift VR headset to be used in Sinful Robots 'erotic encounters' video game

As if we didn't already have enough reasons to be excited about the Oculus Rift VR headset, a company called Virtuix has shown what gamers can do when you add an omnidirectional treadmill to the mix.
It's called Omni, and like the Oculus Rift, it's still under development. But once unleashed, there's virtually no limit to how the two devices could be used together.

Omni's creators describe it as “a natural motion interface for virtual reality applications," and that it will be the first treadmill of its kind to be affordable for household consumers.

From their website:
Applications of omni-directional movement in virtual reality stretch far beyond gaming: training and simulation, fitness and exercising, virtual tourism, virtual tradeshows and events, virtual meet-ups and multi-person adventures, virtual workplaces, virtual museums, physical therapy, VR architecture, VR concerts, etc. The possibilities are limitless. Virtual reality is the future.
Virtuix is currently preparing a Kickstarter campaign to help launch the Omni.

Now all that needs is a gun peripheral with accelerometers in it so you can aim it and the cursor follows.

I get a headache just watching the videos. I think using this would give me a migraine in like 2 minutes. /sad

The videos are bad cause you see both sides with both eyes. When you are in them, you only see each side with the respective eye and the perspective is close enough that it should be not fisheyed like that. From what I hear it comes out pretty seamless. The biggest problem people have is with the disconnect from seeing movement in 3d and not actually moving. It messes with peoples brains. The more resistant you are to motion sickness the better you do with the Rift though.

I have trouble with all 3D. 3D movies don't look good to me at all and almost always give me a bad headache. I have really bad vision and astigmatism. I've heard that being that way can cause 3D to look blurry or non-existant. I also am terrible at using the Wii-mote. I might have to stick to baby 3D games like Puppy Princesses 3D. XD

I thankfully don't have motion sickness though. /Hugs to Kismet.

The rift may be different for you. Each eye sees its own screen instead of both eyes seeing the same screen through separate lenses. 3d movies are wonky because they can't do the perspective thing across the whole screen.

I'd rather go for a high speed EEG headset. You'll lose a lot with an omni directional treadmill, especially during online play.
That's my 2 cents :p
