Feeling like a old person.

Euchale

Crazy German Guy
Dear everyone,

I feel like an old person right now. Several reason for this:
  • Since September I had at least 1 doctors appointment every week. Nothing big. Just dentist, otolaryngologist (nose, ear and throat specialist) and my endocrinology appointments.
  • Every morning I take my medicine. This medicine was helping me feel better for the first few months but by now it has lost all it´s effects. According to my endocrinologist it´s still improving my blood values so I should stick with it.
  • I don´t feel healthy anymore and barely have energy for anything. When I started my diet a year ago I also started training with dumbbells and I had a constant increase in weight. In the last 2 months I had to reduce the amount of weight, because I simply couldn´t handle it anymore.
  • I´m constantly complaining about the younger generation. Seriously. I do that all the time.
  • I almost feel disconnected from the world sometimes. Just sitting around doing something and then 4 hours later you have no memory of what you have done.
  • I barely feel pain anymore. When I burn myself on a pan it takes much longer until I manage to get my hand away.
  • I can sleep for 12 hours straight.
tldr: It sucks to get old.

May I ask what you age, bmi, height, and weight is?

Also I totally agree with some of this, you do get more lethargic as you get older it seems, but it also depends on what you have around to stimulate. You transfer your energy from dance clubs to board games with friends. :)

Age 24, BMI 44.8, height 1,92m/6.3 foot and weight you can calculate yourself :)[DOUBLEPOST=1417452550,1417452519][/DOUBLEPOST]
My back hurts.

This is something that I completely lack. My back doesn´t hurt, and my joints don´t hurt as well.

I know that it isn't an easy path but if you were to put a strong workout plan into your daily life, especially at the age of 24, you would see a HUGE increase in your overall energy and you may start to feel a lot better about yourself. With a BMI of 44.8 you really should try to make a lifestyle change not only for energy levels, but mental and physical health. I know it isn't easy but you would be amazed at how your brain would adapt to the new lifestyle if you really embraced it.

I will echo Tristan and say that incorporating regular physical activity into my life has worked wonders on my physical and mental well-being. If anything it's stress relief since I can't go around open-hand slapping the idiots at work.

Try it out and see what happens!

If you've made serious gains and are lifting fairly heavily it could be that your diet isn't really supporting the work you're doing, especially if you're on a very low calorie count and aren't monitoring macronutrient intake. It could also just be that you're overtraining and not giving your body enough rest. I'd take a hard look at both of those factors.

When I started working out regularly a few years ago this was the biggest mindset adjustment. All of a sudden I had to eat MORE in order to see results. It was cray cray.

This only works if you are burning it all off, though.

Thanks for all the replies. I was really pumped up about losing weight after I talked with my Doctor, but I lost my motivation due to a lack of progress a bit. Maybe I´m just down because we didn´t have any other weather than fog since september. No Rain, no Sun -.-

Btw Euchale I re-read this and this doesn't just sound like a small thing this kinda sounds like you may be suffering from depression. Do you happen to have a therapist or something you can go to?

I myself have one for getting a grasp on bad childhood stuff that can sometimes come back and make me feel frozen in the present.

In especially the northern parts of the world people tend to get “winter depression” which shares some symptoms with depression. If you usually don’t feel this way, or if it started some months ago, this could be it. Some say the lack of Vitamin D can cause stuff like this, I don’t know though, you could try taking those I guess...

You could make a home made light therapy machine to help with all the gray, they actually work well apparently

That doesn´t sound unlikely. I had problems with my Vitamin D levels before. I will take some again and see if it helps.

That sounds like a good idea as well. I think we even have one standing around somewhere.

Thanks for all the feedback <3
