GW2 Mesmer Perspective: Good Guild PvP Arcanix Part 2 - Guild Wars 2

Ok, so you're running a crit/phantasm build. My suggestion would be to take out 10 points from domination and put it into duelling, as conditions are not a primary feature of your build. Duelling further improves your critical % and makes all that equipment that does +crit damage more effective. The hit is that you lose vulnerability, but since you've already spent a major trait on distortion granting reflection, I figure another distortion effect would make that more valuable to you.

I'm not sure I agree with the changes here... I used the staff not the greatsword so I wasn't all about crits I was about damage over time and avoiding damage. The change is strange that it relies on a signet being used. Vulnerability is important for team work. I liked making people vulnerable when in groups they went down a lot faster.

In which case, wouldn't more domination be better to extend your condition duration, along with runes that do the same (runes of nightmare or lyssa)? Getting a high crit chance and damage is a big commitment of your resources currently, so I wrongly assumed that's what you were going for.

I was like oh cool, this seems really interesting and all of a sudden, "OH HELL NO KALI STOP IT!"

I just died. Can't even breathe. ><

Also damn, you 2 have ridiculous survivability, it was hard to take any of you down solo :<

I ran an Ele through the last BWE and Mesmers were the hardest to kill by far. There were at least 2 matches where just me and a mesmer were fighting on a trebuchet for the entire match because we couldn't kill each other lol. Also it's really hard to tell which Mes is the real one, if he just stands still lol.

I want to see your build for ele! You were definitely skilled playing it.

I know you and me had a good duel too I just don't know where it is :( You won btw lol

This was the Ele build I was using most of the weekend. Very high survivability for me, good for locking an opponent down too.

Passive signet buffs are always up, and the skills for them recharge 20% faster. You get faster element switch CD's, and it's really good for giving boons and removing conditions. The only class I ever had trouble with 1v1 with this build is mesmers lol.

That's a solid build Kali. I can see why it was effective.
Vivec - I wonder if Fire magic might be better than Arcane power to give you condition duration?

I thought of that too, I mean the build I was running has pretty low burst, it's more of an outlast class. I tried out fire for a while, but I just couldn't stand not having the reduced CD on switching elements. There were a lot of times when I really needed a water or an earth spell ASAP, but still had 5 seconds left on the switch CD.

I ran with something similar to this except dropped water and went fire for some increased dmg and 20% reduced cooldowns (for the burst setup). I found this worked a bit better than going pure glass because it gives you survivability especially if you slot cantrips in the utilities for stunbreaks and immunity.

The increase in Vitality and Healing made it to where I wasn't pure glass, along with the boosted toughness from Earth, I get what you're saying though. Extra healing and fewer cantrips is the same thing as more cantrips and less healing :) The defense and Offense balance out either way.
