Here are a list of the new Ascended quality gear (back slots/backpieces). rings and infusions discovered by the GW2 community. All of the Ascended backpieces have infusion slots and their recipes involves using the Vial of Condensed Mists Essence, a rare drop from the new fractals of the mists dungeon. Note that Infusions can be only applied to Ascended backpieces/ring infusion slots and the stats it provides (Agony Resistance) is only useful for high levels in Fractal of the Mists dungeon.
Upgrading and downgrading
You can upgrade and downgrade mist essences
There are now 2 methods to make Ascended backpieces. The first method is via grinding as it uses about 1835 fractal relics from the Fractal of the Mists dungeon. The second method is via mostly gold as you need a lot of globs of ectoplasm and T6 fine crafting materials.
Method 1 – Grind
Ascended Version (Prototype Fractal Capacitor): This method makes the Ascended version of the Prototype Fractal Capacitor, which has no glow.
The Fractal of the Mists vendor sells exotic version of the Prototype Fractal Capacitor for 1350 Fractal Relics. There are 5 versions with different stats (note that the gw2db tooltips for one of them is wrong and doesn’t list the 3rd stats).

The vendor also sells Gift of the Ascension for 500 Fractal Relics.
Now, you need to take both items (1850 relics in total) to the mystic forge and use the following recipes to make the Ascended version with either Offensive or Defensive slot (it is opposite of books/quivers with crystals and philosopher’s stone)
Infused Version (Beta Fractal Capacitor): To make the infused Version of the Prototype Fractal Capacitor (It is called Beta Fractal Capacitor), you will need to use the following components in the mystic forge (information provided by Fadjon, image provided by Glaciair)
Fractal Capacitor (Infused): You can combine the Beta Fractal Capacitor with Shard of Crystallized Mists Essence, Glob of Ectoplasm, and Gift of Ascension again to make an upgraded version of the Beta Fractal Capacitor. This version is simply called Fractal Capacitor (Infused) and have the glowy effects (discovery and recipe provided by Fadjon, images provoded by Images provided by Mystearica Grant)
Method 2 – Gold
This method makes Ascended books and quivers and it is fairly expensive due to the amount of Glob of Ectoplasm and T6 Fine Crafting material it requires (especially if you are making the one using the Vial of Powerful Blood).
General formula: 1 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence + 250 Philosopher’s Stone/40 Crystal + 50 Glob of Ectoplasm + 250 T6 Fine Crafting material (except for venom sacs and totems)
Note: Both Philosopher’s Stone and Crystals are brought from Miyani near the Mystic Forge in Lion’s Arch. Vial of Condensed Mists Essence is a rare drop from the Fractal of Mists Dungeon
Infused Version: All of the quivers and books below can be upgraded to the Infused version by using the following recipe in the mystic forge. The infused version adds +5 agony resistance to the item itself, granting additional agony resistance
Quivers – All with Offensive Infusion Slots
All of the quivers below share identical appearance and contains Offensive Infusion Slot. The Infused version already have +5 agony resistance in them in addition to the Offensive Infusion Slot.
Bowyer’s Delight
All of the books/tomes below share identical appearance and contains Defensive Infusion Slot. The Infused version already have +5 agony resistance in them in addition to the Defensive Infusion Slot.
Book of Secrets
Note: Eldritch Scoll is purchased from Miyani near the Mystic Forge in Lion’s Arch. Karka Shells, Passion Flowers, Passion Fruits can be brought on the trading post, obtained from the new Consortium Chests, or harvested/dropped from Southsun Cove.
Crafted in the Mystic Forge (agony resistance + additional stat)
NOTE: With the recent update, some of the infusions only require 1 Philosopher stone rather than 50 Philosopher stones. This might be an unintended change. Double check when buying Philosopher stones. So far Vital and Resilient infusions are confirmed to use 1 Philosopher Stone
Resilient Infusion (defensive slots)
Infusions with just agony resistance can also be purchased from the Fractal of the Mists dungeon using tokens earned from the dungeon
3.Rings
Ascended quality rings can be obtained in high tiers of Fractal of the Mists dungeons. Going from tier 10 to tier 11, players can receive a daily bonus chest containing an Ascended quality ring. At tier 20+, players can receive an Infused version of the Ascended ring (already comes with agony resistance). Starting with the Wintersday update, players who are doing tier 26 and higher fractals will only receive infused version of ascended rings through the daily chest (i.e. non-infused Ascended rings will no longer drop from the daily chests at tier 26 and above).
Buying ascended rings
At the daily chest for tier 10 and higher fractals, players are guaranteed a Pristine Fractal Relic. If you have 10 of such relic, you can purchase an Ascended ring at the Golem Merchant BUY-437 inside Fractal of the Mists hub.
Upgrading ascended ring to infused ring
The Wintersday update provided us with a method to upgrade from regular ring to infused ring in the mystic forge
Infused ring = 1 Shard of Crystallized Mists Essence + 3 Glob of Coagulated Mists Essence + 5 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence+ Non infused ring
