Ultra CHEZ

It's better with cheddar!
I feel like a nerd among nerds when I talk about IRL role playing games. Does anyone else play? I'm only a level 4 Swordmage with my current group, but I've really taken to the game. I just wish my DM could host it more than once a month...

Fourth Ed I assume? I haven't touched D&D since 3.5E in Uni. Nowadays I avoid level-based systems because I find them unnecessarily restrictive.

I've played for several years. I prefer 3.5e to 4e, but I see some merits in the latter. Pathfinder is also pretty interesting. It's hard to keep a group going, though, and most of my friends have moved to different cities.

If we had more than just two weeks until launch, I'd say we could do an online campaign with the guild on Mumble or Play-By-Post to tide us over. But since the game comes out so soon, I think our priorities will shift dramatically.

Holy shit launch is in just two weeks.

I host/administrate an online Tuesday night game (Aus time) along with PsionicFox and some other RL friends. We play a lot of WoD with Eclipse Phase thrown in (rotating GMs).

I never really got into D&D, but I have had some awesome Vampire the Masquerade adventures with some friends...... is that what you mean when you say WoD(world of darkness) Dire?

I've run Mage: The Awakening every week for the last 4 years, then took a break because it was taking too much time away from work. After that I started pulling in players to do guest GM spots until we established a GM rotation of campaigns.

We just finished a 7ish week run of Changeling and we've moved on to a 'Future' World of Darkness scenario, with magic and spaceships. After that hopefully Psionic will run some more of his 'The Secret World of Darkness', based on the new MMO (but without the god-aweful combat system and fedex quests). Then it's back to me with Eclipse Phase.

The first several replies were informative and intriguing. The last 3 were what I expected (and funny as well). Glad to hear I'm not the only one who enjoys table top role playing games. I'm sure as I get older and go into college I'll be able to find more people to play with, but for now I'll stick with my fairly casual 4th edition group. Also, my DM and I were joking that there needs to be a "Scumbag DM" meme.

I've always wanted to play D&D, just never had a local group of like-minded people. The video is a hilarious one (imo) that's been around forever, and always makes me chuckle, not disrespectful to D&Ders... (and coincidentally created by Community writer Dan Harmon)

I play 3.5 :) My current character is a lvl 9 Half-Orc Druid. Almost killed myself last session when I wild shaped as a shark and bit an Aboleth. Bad choice. <3 D&D. I tried out 4e, wasn't a big fan.

Check out http://roll20.net/ if you're interested in playing online with people. I think there's a subreddit dedicated to finding online groups. Something like /r/lfg

ROFL, where are you reading this stuff? That's hilarious. XD

All through high school i played with a group of friends was 5 of us in the group and one guys dad who had played D&D since the good old days was GM, played some 3.5 and a little 4 but mostly played with the GURPS system which is so much more fun.

Wow, that Roll20 thing Rhia linked looks cool. I'd totally start a game up with some fellow newbies or whomever sometime. That's cool how they have cams, music for the DM, etc. all built into it!
