It wasn't hard for me to throw it all away once I found something else to truly dedicate my time to. lolThe problem is the phrase "WoW-killer". Arena Net has constantly said it doesn't want to be a WoW killer. They've said that because of the lack of subscriptions, they can't really kill WoW. In fact, no one can but WoW itself. In my opinion, it comes down to psychology. No one wants to discard YEARS of work; and that's exactly what their WoW characters represent. Even if GW2 is a better game; even if WoW goes down the toilet; it is hard for someone to throw away their hard work and start fresh. GW2 will be an amazing game, and WoW will slowly decline, but the term WoW-killer needs to be thrown out.
I wouldn't say its hard to turn away from wow I know lots of people who put ungodly amounts of time and effort into it and just stopped. The thing is its not like people are being forced to stop its that they are getting tired of 8 years of more or less the same game with any "innovation" via expansions not actually doing anything to reignite peoples interest for the game people who stop playing don't have a hard time doing it because they no longer enjoy playing, but for the people who do enjoy the game still i think its more a case of its easier to stick with wow then it is to leave not so much that its actually hard to leave. Though i do agree with you on the term "wow killer" the only thing that is going to "kill" wow is blizzard. The problem is the phrase "WoW-killer". Mike O'Brien wants to "beat" wow.
very true, i really like that they've never tried to target any other games out there and say "where better" much the way rift and tera did for exampleJust make a good game and stfu. Which is what I feel arenanet has done.
Yeah, they didn't even have to though. GW1 was very successful .. I'm surprised people didn't talk about ANet like they did Blizz for so long hehe.very true, i really like that they've never tried to target any other games out there and say "where better" much the way rift and tera did for example
