The Forum Roleplaying Rules.

1. Most important rule that I’ve ever come across in forum RP. Do not EVERtake control of another’s character, unless given previous permission from said member. This includes, “I growled and he looked scared”, “He took the letter from me.”, “I shook his hand and squeezed so hard it broke.” Always invite the player into the situation you want, if they choose to go into it then it’s fair game. For example, Player 1:“I offered my hand” Player 2:”I took a hold of ‘someone’s hand”Player 1: “I squeezed his hand as hard as I could trying to crush the bones.” Player 2: “The bones in ‘ones’ hand began to strain at the sheer power from ‘someone’s grip".

2. Your character is NOT a god! If you decide to fight in RP amongst other players make it fair. The easiest way to do this is to PM the other play. Seeing posts that are some variation of “I hit Player 1 in the face.”“I dodge player 2 and counter with a kick to the groin.”“I roll out of player 1’s kick and shoot him with my rifle”… It get’s boring. Organise a fight. If that seems like too much effort, DON’T FIGHT!

3. Don’t double post. If you don’t write enough or you forget to add something important. Edit your post, but make it clear that you’ve edited it and inform others that may have already read it that you’ve added an edit.

4. Generally the thread will be taken in turns, each person telling his part of the story one by one and finally circling back to the start. If its someone’s turn and they don’t post for a couple of days try and get in touch with them and find out why. If they’ve given up, post your turn.

5. I’m a sucker for correct grammar and spelling. I’m very aware that I myself may sometimes get it wrong but, just try your best. Spell checker is your friend.

6. Minimum amount of words is not a necessity but a few sentences is always better than a few words. Keep it interesting for others!!

General Helpful Guidelines:

1. Obviously some are better at RPing than others. Especially people who are just deciding “Hey, I might try that RP thing..” If you are unsure when to post, how to post, what to post then PM the thread starter or another good RP member. They’ll happily set you up on a post to come in on after, they may also proof read your work and help you with a general story line.

2. If you are unsure where your story is going or haven’t decided yet just try tagging along with someone else’s story and see where it takes you. You might have a good idea with someone else’s story. Again, PM the leading member of the current story and share your idea.

3. Try thinking of a general story line before joining an RP thread, it always helps to have an idea of where you want to go with your story.

Thanks for taking the time to read the rules. Enjoy!!
