I keep saying this, but...
I feel like, honestly, the biggest reason I left WoW was the lack of community. That game just divides people. I mean, the fact that I hated doing random battlegrounds for fear of being called a cunt, a retard, or worse and having to deal with that shit over "fighting in the road" or "not dropping the flag" or whatever else gets those people so insanely upset...I couldn't do it anymore.
A lot of my friends stopped playing, and when other friends were on, they were gearing for a raid. I can't raid because of my schedule and honestly, have no interest in doing it. I don't even see myself running dungeons that often in GW2, it's just not something I am currently interested in.
So when I found the alt tab community, it was like a saving grace. Without the community, I probably would have stopped gaming all together for quite some time, at least in any MMO type genre. I just couldn't keep giving to a community that took you for everything and then didn't appreciate what you gave.
At least here, even if I'm off playing Diablo or SimCity when it comes out, I'll have someone to play with, people I like and respect. Even in GW2 PvP I have yet to see the type of behavior I saw daily in WoW's PvP system. Maybe it's because the community in GW2 is smaller, but I'll take it. It's much more enjoyable not to have to worry about name calling and other stupid shit. I just want to play my games.
