Pokemon: The Origin

Pokemon: The Origin is an upcoming anime to be released alongside the regular Pokemon XY anime. It's basically the Red/Blue version games in an anime series with Red and Green/Blue (Gary). The female protag hasn't been shown yet so I don't know if she'll be in it or not. The animation/art style is different from the Pokemon we've all seen before.

I'm personally stoked for this anime to come out. It looks great! It'll be in Japanese to start. An English dub will probably come.. well.. never.

Right? The thing I'm most excited for is that the art style/animation makes it actually look like an anime whereas the original Pokemon series is more of a cartoon. I guess that's just my opinion though haha. The only thing that could top this really is if they did an anime adaptation of the Pokemon Adventures manga which is the best.

I don't really feel like watching poliwhirl all the time. lol
 
This doesn't look that bad but Red's vest is zipped shut and he looks like a dork in the anime, whereas he was a total BEAST in the game what with that unzipped vest of his. I'll give it a whirl, despite this glaring inconsistency. *ponymeme:

His jacket being zipped/unzipped isn't really much of an inconsistency haha. Jackets do come with that funtion you know :p
As for him looking like a dork, I think they're trying to make him look younger since Red is very young at the start of his journey.

Internet sarcasm was super unsuccessful! Haha, I know, I know. I like the way it looks which is surprising as anime generally isn't my cup of tea, but I do enjoy me some Pokemon so that might have a bit to do with it.

Oh haha. I had no idea you were joking! My bad.
 
Oh man, I have been saying that this is what they needed to do. Not re-do the series with Ash again, and again. They seriously needed to start basing it off the old games, especially Red. I really wanted to see an animated anything with Red.

Kinda sad he doesn't look like this though. I guess they didn't want people to confuse him with Ash?

I wouldn't mind a darker/more tournament based pokemon anime. I always thought the stuff they put out there was a little too juvenile for me.
 
If this is done well, I may lift my personal ban on Pokemon and check it out. Full disclosure: I did actually enjoy Pokemon: Snap.
 
Wii U will come out with a pokemon snap iteration. It just has to. There is no better peripheral to support it.
