New Feature Quick Nav Bar on the Right

So while trying to figure out a way to get our chat to float like say Facebook or Google+... I placed some place holder shit there to get JS to work, and well it is kinda cool and I do love me some quick nav... sooo here is what it does, ENJOY!

Overview
This small template modification makes a toolbox at the right side of your forum with some following feartures:
  • Go to top site
  • Go to bottom site
  • Back to before page
  • Page scroll down
  • Pause page scroll down
  • Refresh page
  • Contact button

I really don't like them. I don't always fullscreen my internet browser, so this causes clutter in the actual screen itself for me. But hey, I can deal. I just wish there was like... a pop down option for it.

I'm calling bs on this one unless you are rolling with an 800 X 600 resolution monitor.

Here is the website shrunk to the smallest possible frame, and then compared IN THE SAME WINDOW SIZE to the most frequented websites. We actually are SMALLER than guru even with the buttons.. Just tossing that out there.

P.S. that being said, we will hopefully have a toggle button there later on, but we are waiting to improve the chat system first.
 
I keep my internet browser to a quarter of the screen (at work). I always have. Like I said, I can deal, but the option to have it there or not would be nice.

Like I said, it's not a big deal, but it's a little annoying. But that's probably just me. An option would be nice, but doesn't break it for me.

Edit: Now imagine if I don't side scroll all the way to the right. it just takes up a bit more space. Again, personal preference.
 
I don't mind the side nav, but I find I don't use it. I'm a creature of habit I guess. It's cool to have options, but maybe take a poll to see how many people actually use it?

Kismet, the longer it stays the more it will become habbit. Ask Waldemar he is probably JAZZED about this. And this is why.

Sometimes when we go through a period of adding shit it is hard to hear "THIS SUCKS" without proper time to try it out.

Sorry woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Ok here is what we will do.

Go to a thread like this:

Lets say you have seen all the top stuff. Hit the bottom arrow. It shoots you to the last post. BAM.

Now say you want to go back up hit the up arrow BAM up.

NOW.. lets say you haven't seen any of it. Hit the paper with the small arrow. It will scroll you through the page for your enjoyment!

The other buttons are fluff. I may remove the ones that don't get used. But some are really helpful.

Try em out tell me whatcha think!

Also let me see if there is CSS that will remove it if you have the window at a certain size so it NEVER goes over the actual forum page and only shows in that side area.

I'm with Bruce. I feel that it's more gimmicky than helpful, and I hoped there would be a way to toggle between showing it and making it disappear. Like Kismet, I don't use it - but that's mostly because my mouse (extra buttons + scroll wheel) already has all of the nav bar's functionality covered.
By now I don't really notice the nav bar anymore though, so I guess I've gotten used to it, ^^

It's rather obtrusive when I'm viewing the forums on my smart phone though.

Edit: Speaking of smart phones, the first time I visited the site there was a message telling me that there's an app that makes using the forums a bit more user-friendly on smart phones. I clicked it away and it never showed up again - by now I've noticed that it's really glitchy to write messages in the forum when I'm on my phone, so I'm wondering if that afore-mentioned app would help. And idea what the app is called?
