Something that has come to my attention lately. People getting bitter about Raids. Be it personal performance, group performance, leadership choices, etc. etc.. The usual drama. After some discussion, I figured a post may be needed.

Raiding is stressful on everyone. We not only need people to be competent, geared, prepared mentally and in-game, but people to lead said people. We're at a good spot now of not only progressing, but no longer having the 15/16 person start and lagging behind and starting late. You guys have all been better at following commands, doing your roles, and at the end of the day progressing.

That said, leading and participating in these raids takes a different mentality than every other aspect we have in TAB. We are a social community and put a huge emphasis on interactions with each other in positive fashions. Raids, however, makes this philosophy hard to carry through. In order to raid, people need to be disciplined in many formats, such as being quiet when needed, concentrating, and following strategies. Being loose in these scenarios ruins the experience for the other 19 people that are there.

The TAB mentality of social, togetherness, and all that jazz doesn't jive too well with the Raiding mentality. As you may have noticed in recent weeks, raids have become a bit more rigid and a bit more structured. This is a good thing for the raiders. As you can see with the progress so far, it's a mentality that works. I really hope that people going into the raiding scenario understand that this is the mentality that's needed to progress. While not in a raid I would hope that people leave the raiding mentality back in the raid environment.

All of the leaders in the raids have one goal in mind. Progression. There will be harsh moments, telling people to be quiet and get their act together is part of the job. They not only need to perform themselves, but also make sure that others are performing. People may be excluded because of this, and I have ensured with all of the officers that NONE OF THESE SCENARIOS ARE PERSONAL. It's a necessary evil of raiding. The TAB mentality doesn't work in raids. If we were still following the TAB mentality in raids of "everyone do your best and no negative feedback and la la la", we'd still be on X-89. "Handle Yo' Shit" and get it done!

Raids are an exception to the TAB mentality. Once that raid breaks, I expect everyone to be back to the enjoying each others company, playing games for games, and conversing and making jokes and everything it is we do. I don't want people harboring ill will against one another because of raiding. It's a difficult task to ask of all of you, but at the end of the day this is how we can have our cake and eat it too.

That said, the officers all know that there is a limit. If they act waaaay out of line, then yes, let them know. This isn't a free pass for the officers to treat you all like trash (and to my knowledge, none of them have).

Now get back to raiding and progressing! I'm proud of all you TAB'ers! Keep it going and enjoy being better than 95% of players out there!
