Do you have any friends in the guild? If so, who?
None yet, I had my first application denied and I am pretty stubborn so I figured i would put some more effort into it before I gave up.
Main Character
Chelu a Human Elementalist
Character Name
Chelu (means Brother in Chamorro)
Race
Human
Profession(Class)
Elementalist
What role do you wish to play in the guild? For example: PvP, PvE, Casual/Social
This is hard to pinpoint at this time because in Beta i wanted to explore the world and sights some so I did more PVE than PVP. When the game releases I will split time between PVP and PVE and see how I like it and go with the flow. That is short for if I am getting my rear handed to me in PVP i will focus on PVE until I regain my pride.
I enjoy the social aspect of being in a guild and meeting people who are from different places and having that in mumble, ventrilo etc, to add to the game really makes the MMO worth it for me.
Which previous MMO's or online games have you played and how long for?
I was not very specific with this in my first application so I will start with the beginning of my MMO fanaticism:
I picked up a Meridian 59 (World chat Rocked along with world notifications of PVP kills) box one day and loaded it up to play my first MMO and I was hooked. I joined a guild and from there I met some great friends where we chased PK'ers (open world PVP) and took over and defended guild halls for a few years. I moved on to Ultima Online and played that until the original Everquest Beta came out. I stuck with EQ for years and went through casual phases along with the grueling raids that led to trying to recover bodies for hours at 2am.
I played many other MMOs including Anarchy Online, Age of Conan, Star Wars Galaxies, Asherons Call, Dark Age of Camelot (The best PVP in my opinion), Lord of the rings.
When WOW came out i really got hooked and I played every class going through phases of raiding and then spending many hours in PVP. I moved back and forth from WOw to EQ2 to keep my interesT up but I kept going back to WOW until the hope of Star Wars pulled me away.
I really liked SWTOR at first because of the storyline and the star wars theme, but after doing the same PVP zones a million times that got stale for me so I have been playing on the PS3 and reading until Guild Wars 2 comes out.
I know I am missing a ton fo MMO's but there have been too many that fizzled out fast.
Were you a part of a guild? What was your experience?
I have belonged to many different guilds of different types over the span of MMO's I have played. I have been in some very strict raiding guilds where you had to show up a certain number of hours each week and you had to farm for mandatory items to even show up for the raids. I have had guild and raid leaders who scream and are tyrannical in nature and that doesnt last long even if the progression of content is successful.
I have also been a part of super casual guilds and ones that fall in between.
I have found I enjoy a guild that develops a strong bond outside the game and likes to talk to each other about anything going on, but also like to group up and PVP together and explore new content on a relaxed pace without putting pressure on people who want to be casual.
I want to be excited about logging it to mumble and my guild instead of it feeling like a job, and when you develop a family atmosphere that is what you get.
I have one guild experience I want to tell you about from Meridian 59 where I was the guildmaster of a large guild and I was the target of an awesome strategic move. My guild held a large guild house with a full chest of items and I had a new person join the guild who fit right in. He was friendly and helpful and i really started to like him so after a month or so I made him an officer. The interesting thing about M59 was the guildmaster only held his spot by the votes of the guild members. Imagine my suprise when I log on after work one day and I am guildless along with all of my friends. He had invited a ton fo his friends during the day and had them vote him GM, where he then kicked us all out of our own guild!
I was angry at first and very humbled but then I had to congratulate him on a job well done. I ended up joining a guild with him later and we had many laughs at my expense.
How did you hear about the Guild?
I saw a video after a friend of mine suggesting that I go look at it. This gave me the idea of researching the site and reading the forums and seeing what you guys are like.
What will you bring to the ALTTABME community? (Chatty? Skilled? Funny? Helping?)
I bring a mature attitude but i like to have fun and enjoy the game with other people. I think i know when to be serious and when it is cool to cut loose and I want to examine every skill of each profession and like to share that information with people. I think the main thing I bring is I know that not everyone is going to be the best player, but everyone should enjoy the game and be treated the same. I really used to hate in WOW when people would get dogged for not performing so well and the leaders were not very compassionate with how they deal with them. This is why I really liked seeing the 18+ age requirement (along with the challenge of the younger people being mature enough to prove you wrong).
Will Arcanix be the only guild you join?
YES. I have never been in more than one guild at a time before.
Is there anything else you would like to throw in here at the end?
Just that I submitted a second application as my first one was shot down with a quickness. I would like to hook up with a good group of people before the game starts who already have a family atmosphere, so I can jump into the game and enjoy it with a good group from the beginning.
(We will be doing the content, ALL OF IT, as a group, to maximize our FUN, not our progression.) You had me when I read this, as I tend to shiver uncontrollably when I hear progression.
Thanks for your time!
I AM READY TO HAVE FUN DAMMIT!!!
