What role do you wish to play in the guild? For example: PvP, PvE, Casual/Social
Initially I had been waiting for GW2 since 2008 when Eye of the North was released and have been telling myself to ignore getting to dedicated to any other MMORPG since then. However, as time moved on I began losing interest and gave up all MMORPG's and simply stuck to console gaming, but now that GW2 is right around the corner and what potential it has shown to the MMO community, I am more than excited to dedicate myself to this game.
PvE: This is where I will focus most of my gameplay hours into, but for my first runthrough, want to make it a long and fun experience. Not only that, but I want to have fun exploring dungeons with friends, mastering jump puzzles for titles, and all of the other fun things Arenanet has put so much time and effort into creating. However, after my first run-through, the system of PvE end-game material will be my main dedication and will most likely overcome PvP.
PvP: I never truely enjoyed the PvP system of GW1 and alot of other MMORPG's, but I know GW2 will be much more intense and balanced (hopefully now they have learned from GW1) to bring me closer to it than any other game before. It is just that I love the PvE Arenanet has developed and probably will spend more time enjoying that than simply participating in the Battle of Khylo. However, WvW does also catch my eye and probably will be another thing I will put many hours into because of how simply awesome it is and how fun it can be from taking down walls in 25 man scrambles to doing jumping puzzles to infiltrate enemy bases.
Casual/Social: Since this is going to be my main MMO and I have not dedicated myself to any forum yet, this would be definitely my top go-to spot for trading and discussing material. However, I have never officially been socially active in a formal guild before and will try to have fun with it the first time around. Besides that, the gameplay experience with the guild will mainly have to do with trading, PvE material as stated above, and simply chatting and having fun like any other MMO I have played. Also, as this is my first formal guild, I really do not want to have to feel required to go out and complete material at an unsteady pace throughout the game because this is the game I have been waiting for since ArenaNet finished Eye of the North.
Which previous MMO's or online games have you played and how long for?
Previously I had been playing GW1 On and Off for the past few years and never made it clear to myself to stick with it. I picked up the game again a few months ago to stride towards the HoM rewards for GW2 and currently striving for 20 points before release. Other than that, I have never really been a PC gamer and never have been part of a MMORPG of this scale (And have never played WOW).
Guild Wars 1 was simply a game I could play on PC when console and portable gaming ran dry for me, resulting in me never actually fully completing all three main campaigns and even the EOTN storyline. Otherwise, games like Animal Crossing and Pokemon were more of my style since portable gaming was all I had when I was a kid. Since then, I mainly played and participated online in all of the Guitar Hero Games and played my part in the leaderboards and forums of the games. Also, I played LoL with Brown for a small while before getting bored of its repetitive nature and failure to truly come up with new content (besides a new expensive character every few weeks). All in All, I have never fully been part of a MMORPG community and really have been waiting all of this time since GW1 to make GW2 my first big game to play for the oncoming years.
Were you a part of a guild? What was your experience?
I was part of a small guild in GW1 but it was mainly made of friends and PvE players alike. It was nothing really special as we would get out to complete end-game material and nothing really more than that. My experience was not really anything special as it was simply some friends I had met in-game, but am excited to join such a guild in GW2 because of that.
How did you hear about the Guild?
I heard about the guild mainly from Brown, but never really anywhere else since I was intending just to find a guild after launch. However, once he asked me if I was interested I decided to give it a try and hope for the best!
What will you bring to the ALTTABME community? (Chatty? Skilled? Funny? Helping?)
I always love to be helping on forums like this, from my past Guitar Hero experiences
. From giving advice on storyline or end-game material, to discussing builds, that is what I intend to bring to this community. Also, I am really interested to see how trading will work now on forums now that the Grand Exchange has been introduced as something different from GW1. Otherwise, I have never really made it out to chat on a forum, but this being my first big MMORPG I have ever joined, I would like to see how the lore based chats will develop on these forums. As I have been subscribed to many channels online discussing factors from dragon's role in the development of the pale tree to anticipating future expansions like I loved to do during the GW1 lifetime.
Will Arcanix be the only guild you join?
This will be my main Guild I will represent, unless I see another small friend-based guild to join as well.
Is there anything else you would like to throw in here at the end?
I'm currently finishing my last year of high-school in Newfoundland after moving from the Toronto area of Canada, and going to be pursuing a career in electrical engineering post-high school. Other than that, I have been waiting for this game for 5 years now and it is finally coming out which is just so exciting to me since it is the MMORPG i will be playing for a LONG time, no doubt about that.
