I was surfing /r/Guildwars2 on redit and saw that there was functionality on making 1v1 up to 10v10 SPvP matches. Looking deeper I found this
Hot join play
Hot join play uses a game selection system similar to many first-person shooter games which allows individuals or groups to join a game based on map, available space, and other settings. It will have variable team sizes which can be different per server so might be one versus one, five versus five or ten versus ten.
It was mentioned in an interview that players will be able to join the same server regularly, forming groups of players that frequently play together.
Players will be matched based on a similar amount of total Glory earned.
Bolding done by me. In the betas we only saw 8v8 so no one is sure if the other game sizes will be in the game, but it seems that last year AN was promising 1v1 up to 10v10. There was also talk of naming your server and putting a password on it so you can find it easily and limit who is on it. Here is hoping to get it on launch.
