Well we all know what people are looking FORWARD to in Wildstar, but... what about the things you are a little nervous about?

So here are the tough questions:

  1. What makes or breaks an MMO for you?
  2. What makes you stay in an MMO?
  3. What concerns you the most about the game?
  4. What might Wildstar be missing?
  5. What mechanics/gameplay/etc in Wildstar are you willing to overlook, because you are hyped for the overall picture?
Enjoy!

1. Economy.
2. Economy.
3. Economy.
4. Me controlling said economy.
5. Everything else because of economy.

Edit: I'll write something more indepth later, but these are all true statements!

1. Content, having microtransactions shoved in your face, PvE model
2. Having many choices for zones like in WoW certainly helps, but the biggest thing that keeps me in is the lore (so far only WoW and SWToR have gotten me there) otherwise all the zones just feel boring to me, even if they are different (aka GW2)
3. I have yet to be in a 40 man raid (played since Vanilla but only started raiding in mid BC) so thats new grounds for me, also how fast they can produce content
4. An AO rating because we need a pron MMO
5. From what I've seen, I have jumping puzzles, I have gathering, player housing, and solid looking PvE. Not much I care about otherwise tbh. Suppose how the AH is designed is also a biggy (lolol first month of GW2's AH)

1. This one is really tough as it sorta coordinates with number two, but I would have to say the interaction with other players whether its in PvP content, or world events, Raids, etc. Over the interaction with players.
2. Friends to play with. If there are good friends I have playing the game, even if its a shitty expac or game like Cata. I still subbed and played it even as bad as cata was, because I was hanging out and doin random stuff with my friends.
3. The fact that it will have all these neat and cool ideas they come out with and then not utilize them to there full potential, because of one thing or another. WILDSTAR as much as I want the game to release really soon, please take your time and make a uber awesome game I can still be playing in 8 years with my buddies.
4. A variety of different classes and Builds, so we are not all running around looking the same with, same weapons and gear. There needs to be some diversity so, everyone's toons' are unique to them. I mean come on there going as far as to throw in paths, for your play style. Why would you wanna miss alittle detail like that. We'll see P.S. I want a PALADIN class.
5. The mega interaction between players and group things to do with my buddies. SEE comments 1&2

  1. What makes or breaks an MMO for you? Community, Earning Progression, Fun.
  2. What makes you stay in an MMO? The Community
  3. What concerns you the most about the game? Cash Shops/XP Boosters. Also either too much or too little information all at once (interview about tutorials).
  4. What might Wildstar be missing? Are there major cities? IE SW/Org? I may have missed some readings?
  5. What mechanics/gameplay/etc in Wildstar are you willing to overlook, because you are hyped for the overall picture? Dunno here.

  • What makes or breaks an MMO for you? Commuity, Fun , having something to do at end game
  • What makes you stay in an MMO? Community, Having a end game ....
  • What concerns you the most about the game? That it wont live up to the hype
  • What might Wildstar be missing? Dont know need to play
  • What mechanics/gameplay/etc in Wildstar are you willing to overlook, because you are hyped for the overall picture? not sure about this

1. Makes is the difficulty/sense of camaraderie, breakage is the lack there of
2. End Game Goals. I don't want to simply have content to do at the end of the game, I want progressive goals that are challenging and make it so that the final 'ding' isn't the final achievement (Ie, original Naxx attunement)
3. I try to distance myself from too much content early on, so N/A (also, not in the beta so haven't experienced it). But at a quick glance, I hope its not too cute
4. Frost Shock
5. Again. due to #3, I don't have a lot to gripe over yet. But as much as I am looking forward to housing, I hope it isn't overly consuming/distracting (ie, require continual work to 'upkeep' it)

1. How fun it is to play. If the mechanics or the art or the quests annoy me and aren't fun, then I don't feel that pull to return when I get up from my chair.
2. Clear direction and goals. GW2 was easy for me to play until cap. And then it was a big NOW WHAT? I need a story to follow, an item to farm, a raid to conquer, something to give me light at the end of the tunnel.
3. The controls and the aiming. I worry that I or my computer won't be fast or responsive enough to be effective, or I just don't like the system
4. I haven't seen enough of the trade skills to know if it has those or not. Also, item diversity. It's nice than every class only has 1 type of weapon, but it also pigeonholes you. Will every single spellslinger be running around with exactly the same weapon?
5. Plot holes or explanations that just don't make sense. For example, I have questions about the Mordesh lore. The group doesn't seem to be sustainable in their current form. I'm willing to overlook exploits and bugs if it means giving players more freedom and room to try more things.

1. What usually breaks the game for me... microtransactions, lack of community, lack of content.
2. Usually, content is what keeps me playing. I like having stuff to collect, areas to explore, achievements to earn. If I get on and I don't feel like I'm accomplishing anything (or it's mindless and boring to do so), I'll just log right back off and tend to forget the game exists. Also, community helps combat this. If I have people on that I enjoy talking to or doing raids/dungeons with, I'm much more likely to play a game long after it would normally be boring to me.
3. I'm worried that at launch, I'm gonna be able to collect all my stuff fairly quickly and outpace the new content, leaving me with little to do besides wait for my next shot at a raid. I also hate dailies.
4. Some of the same stuff I mentioned before. A wide variety of pets/mounts for me to collect.
5. /shrug.

  • What makes or breaks an MMO for you?
Simple: The feeling of immersion. Wanting to log in to get away from my current world. Enjoying staying in the game versus looking at it in a browser.
  • What makes you stay in an MMO?
FUN. I look for something that I can invest time in. I need to feel like the world makes sense to travel. I dislike when you get to the end you literally only have 1 place to go that makes sense anymore. You sit in one town and that is all. Waiting to do anything of value. I am more about Sandbox MMO's when it comes to the world being a world vs the major city being your world.
  • What concerns you the most about the game?
The ability for the different aspects of the game to come together as a whole. Housing/PvE/PvP/Warplots/Raids. All sound great, but to see the work together and not make your guild feel disassociated from one another due to implementation is a whole other. Working together for a greater goal is a +
I do get nervous that being an early adopter on an MMO means you get a shit first experience compared to those who wait a month or two for them to flesh out details.
  • What might Wildstar be missing?
Teamwork, I feel as though from what I have seen that you can play the game like all other themeparks, solo and never worry about talking to another person. While warplots and raids are one thing, they are also very "hardcore". It would be nice to see a reason to interact with someone other than just the "oh help me kill this" *kill it* "drop party"
  • What mechanics/gameplay/etc in Wildstar are you willing to overlook, because you are hyped for the overall picture?
Housing I can overlook the fact that it is instanced because of what they have said about making it bigger and joined. I have faith in time they, as former sandbox lovers as well, will make a beautiful unity.

  1. What makes or breaks an MMO for you? Having enough people to play with in order to make the game fun. I enjoy playing solo but the times when I need a group for something or what to check out dungeons or pvp I will look for a group. If there is no easy way to get said group it gets disheartening.
  2. What makes you stay in an MMO? People and the content. People are going to stick around if the content is there, is fresh, and is challenging.
  3. What concerns you the most about the game? How often updates will be pushed out and what kind of content will we see with them.
  4. What might Wildstar be missing? I think they have covered their bases pretty good. I don't want them to stretch too thin in any one area though. Have enough dungeons, have enough raids, have enough PvP at start to give players enough to do before the first big content patch.
  5. What mechanics/gameplay/etc in Wildstar are you willing to overlook, because you are hyped for the overall picture? I'm willing to overlook a buggy quest here or there as long as I see them actively trying to fix them with patches.

What makes or breaks an MMO for you?
Group play. If I want to play something solo, I will play a normal RPG.

What makes you stay in an MMO?
My Guild and lore.

What concerns you the most about the game?
NCsoft as publisher. I don´t like them after what they did to Aion.

What might Wildstar be missing?
Noobish-player in the endgame. Oh wait you were asking for something negative!
All the promises they made. I wait until the game is in open beta to form an opinion on this.

What mechanics/gameplay/etc in Wildstar are you willing to overlook, because you are hyped for the overall picture?
Bad healing mechanics. Hell I played Ragnarok online at one time, and this is not even a game it is a chat program with minigames. And I stayed because of an awesome Guild.

  1. What makes or breaks an MMO for you? Lack of content, level progression, sense of achievement
  2. What makes you stay in an MMO? Definitely my guild, as well as awesome content!
  3. What concerns you the most about the game? How the combat will play out, also lack of a business model is still concerning for me. Hoping for that announcement soon!
  4. What might Wildstar be missing? Not sure on this one.
  5. What mechanics/gameplay/etc in Wildstar are you willing to overlook, because you are hyped for the overall picture? - Can't think of much for this one. The only thing that comes to mind is how the path system will play out.

  • What makes or breaks an MMO for you? -Whether or not I can get through the leveling process. If I'm bored and its just a grind, I lose interest quickly. If I wanted to grind, I'd take another character in Achaea from level 1-100. (takes about a year of nothing but grinding to do and you get to become a dragon for it.)

  • What makes you stay in an MMO? -Community and friends, also I need to have fun PvPing and doing endgame content as well.

  • What concerns you the most about the game? -Payment options, I like to support the games that I play, however I don't like pay to win in video games. Which I guess is funny because I like to play Magic: The Gathering and Achaea and every other Iron Realms game is a huge pay to win advantage game when it comes to PvP especially. However, that being said, I believe true skill can overcome this in most scenarios... hopefully I'm not bad at this game.

  • What might Wildstar be missing? -Large bags of hundred dollar bills being given to me, as every other game has failed in this metric I won't be saddened by it here as well.

  • What mechanics/gameplay/etc in Wildstar are you willing to overlook, because you are hyped for the overall picture? -I'm actually not very hyped for this game at all, honestly. I joined the site originally because of Crake, but I do love the friends I've made here. I don't have any expectations for the game and I've kept my information intake very low, mostly sticking to the podcasts and what I hear from the other members for my info. I actually -just- watched the "What is wildstar" video tonight, but only cause I decided it would be easier to play that for my friend than to relay the info myself. I expect the community here to keep me enticed to play, even if something I don't like is in the game.

I'm sorry for breaking the format but I'll make it simple for you guys, I'm NOT hyped about Wildstar at all, don't get me wrong I'll buy it and play it AND most likely will enjoy it immensely but I'm not looking forward to a groundbreaking game or something that is so out of the ordinary that will make me single it out from the rest of MMORPGS out there.

Here's the thing, my expectations or lack of them rather will allow me to enjoy the game for what it is when it comes out and furthermore have fun with you guys with whatever is going on at the moment so basically this:

1. community
2. community
3. actual time to play
4. dunno / don't care and
5. I'm not hyped so I'll take it as it is when it comes out.

PS: I DO very much look forward to hang out in the guild house or whatever they may call it and raiding.

  1. What makes or breaks an MMO for you?
Content: If I can lose myself and have fun I'll happily play a game for hours on end. The best games are when your not focusing on your level, when you complete forget what level you are and just playing because you're excited about either the story or enjoying the content.

2. What makes you stay in an MMO?

Community (guilds). I could play the most grindiest boring game ever, but if I have a fun community ill play for hours. Tera is a good example, if I played on my own I would have defiantly quite after 20 levels, but I joined a guild and we almost hit realm first because everyone was just on it and helping each other out.

Developers.

The journey.

3. What concerns you the most about the game?

Can the developer keep on top of shit, so far they have been really enthusiastic with all the videos and information they've been giving out. I hope the keep the same level throughout the life of the game, then we will know there excited about making new content and give it the love and care it needs lol

4. What might Wildstar be missing?

Feeling of progression, goals? Not sure, just grabbing at thin air really lol. Just have to see at open beta.

5. What mechanics/gameplay/etc in Wildstar are you willing to overlook, because you are hyped for the overall picture?

Not sure, probably telegraphs, only really saying it to answer the question haha

So here are the tough questions:

  1. Fun. It has to be fun. I don't care how hard, competitive or interesting the lore is if the game isn't fun.
  2. The art style and friends. At the end of the day, it's just a game and I don't want to play it alone.
  3. From a lot of the videos I've seen it looks to have the same "empty, lifeless world" feeling that SWTOR capitalized on. I was really upset about this in SWTOR as I was never able to truly immerse myself in the game. I hope this is just the way it is in beta.
  4. See above, if that is fixed then I can't see anything wrong with it. They've already come out and said they had plans for what, like, a years worth of endgame? Crazy.
  5. Tab targetting. I don't think it has any place in Wildstar. It's essentially an aim bot, and that's not cool.

  1. Lack of endgame and games that take away from community and immersion. Also, games that just feel like a conveyor belt. I want a world I can truly be a part of that supports it's community and promotes socialization and immersion.
  2. "Endgame" content that isn't crap, having the ability to make my character look baller (yes, I'm superficial when it comes to these games, but why can't I look like a bad ass?), but most of all the community I am a part of.
  3. I'm very tolerant of bugs and balancing issues when a game first starts, what concerns me is raid and pvp content. Above all else, P2W.
  4. They honestly seem to have all the elements, at least in concept. I would like to see more open-ness in PvP, but then again I am a bit hardcore with the extent to which I would like there to be PvP. I don't believe in safe zones and the like. Also, something it may have TOO much of (I suppose, in a sense missing the lacking of this feature) is the overly automated catering to people i.e. groupfind, inter-server crap, etc. that takes away from social immersion.
  5. Mainly just the bugs and balancing issues that come with a brand new MMO. I'm willing to be patient.

What makes or breaks an MMO for you?
Thee ability to play either with friends or solo and it not feel like I'm chasing a carrot on a stick. An open, free-flowing game where I can go just about anywhere and run into relevant content is what I love about great MMO's. When a game feels like I'm riding on rails, I'm out.

What makes you stay in an MMO?
The helpfulness and camaraderie of the community, class balancing, and the ability to continue to put out relevant content. I typically don't get heavy into lore and story but it does play a part. So when it's not there, or if it's just haphazardly thrown in, the game starts to get that carrot-on-a-stick feel.

What concerns you the most about the game?
That it's going to do too much hand-holding and some of the Path content is going to be poorly implemented (Settlers mainly).

What might Wildstar be missing?
- A bounty system. I know it was brought up in a Q&A of some sort a long while back, but haven't heard anything about it since.
- Incentive to world PvP is another thing that may be lacking. So many games have said they put it in, but fail to really make it worthwhile to go out and do it. DAoC had probably the best system to date in that regard simply because they actually had a PvP dungeon that opened up if you controlled enough keeps to open it up for your faction. You could raid in there, get some damn fine loot, and harass the shit out of the other side if you managed to stay alive long enough to do so.
- Which brings me to my last one, a raidable PvP dungeon.

What mechanics/gameplay/etc in Wildstar are you willing to overlook, because you are hyped for the overall picture?
Overlooked bugs and some spit and polish. Other than that, we're in the age where MMO's can't be launched half-assed anymore and be successful. There's really no excuse for excluding content that's been promised to the player base.

Enjoy!

1. If their Elder game is bad and raiding isn't fun that breaks an MMO.
2. The guild and raiding makes me stay in an MMO after I have done all solo content.
3. I'm concerned the game will cater to too much and be short lived in one area..
4. I feel it's missing murlocs :p
5. I can overlook fishing and flying mounts for overall game play.
