This game will be compared to D3. It is not avoidable. So I figured I'd start it out!

That is basically a very direct comparison between the two games. This is not a very common comparison. Mostly because the top developers of Runic Games were the founders of Blizzard North (Who created Diablo 1 and 2) and when you get into Torchlight 2, you IMMEDIATELY feel the game go back to the roots of D2.
Some highlights I'd be happy to give out for a quick view;
-Weapons have a level requirement OR a stat requirement. (IE: Level 9 or 27 Strength and 15 Dexterity)
-Each class has three tree's, (7 active abilities, 4 passive abilities, and 15 levels per skill, with 3 tiers per 5 levels that give bonuses to the ability, for each tree)
-Stat distribution.
-Offline, LAN, and Lobby modes available.
-Openly supports modding, and the game will support the Steam Workshop. Modding tools might be available as well. I've already seen a few projects for D2-related reworks and stuff.
The game is only $20 on steam, and it's very fun!
