I hate to be negative, but I was really disappointed with this game. And this is coming from a big AC fan. I absolutely love the series, but after the credits rolled I was left empty and dissatisfied with what I was shown. The ending was just completely awful. I won't go into it to spoil anything. When you're ready and if you want my exact thoughts on it, this guy pretty much sums up my thoughts on why the game failed for me at least with the ending(spoilers):
Besides the crappy ending. The amount of glitches in this game is phenomenal. I've never played a big budget game with so many glitches. Bad loading times (I understand the maps are huge but 1min loading time, really?), buildings and textures not loading, unattainable trophies, glitchy free-running, awful menu design...I could go on and on.
I think my 2 main gripes with the game is the ending and the music. Why ubisoft decided to throw out one of the best game composers this gen for a Hans Zimmer wannabe alumni is beyond me. Lorne Balfe was terrible in Revelations.
It just really saddens me. I was so emotionally invested in this story and ubisoft just ruined it. I mean, yes the game can be fun and all; naval missions are amazing, and traversing the frontier is fun. (Although I'm bummed they cut out canoe travel when that was shown in many early shots of the game) The only things this game accomplished were improving graphically (There are truly some beautiful vistas in this game), massively improving the scale of the maps and finally giving us a likable new hero to play as. Ratonhnhaké:ton is awesome. Much like Altaïr in personality; a mature, focused, stoic badass. Which is what I liked and expected out of an Assassin as opposed to the childish stupidity of a wise-ass, overrated, annoying, sexually promiscuous Ezio. Altaïr is still number one though. Beyond that however, I am disappointed and greatly saddened with this terrible new direction of the Assassin's Creed franchise. I'm worried about the movie now.
