Wildstar WildStar: A Guide to What We Know

Yes me and Gyoin can easily set up a nice complex system and put it up with an awesome Jia style spreadsheet that can easily be accessed by anyone in the guild. Transparency is key to squashing loot drama as much as possible.
Open Viewed Google Docs with Limited modification access. It's that simple.

I personally HATE DKP. I prefer roll if you are there. Win if you are lucky :p But that is just me lol. I am sure I am the minority there so we will work out a system that works with everyone in mind so everyone gets rewarded properly.

.... No. Gross. Good for 10 mans and below, but 15/20/40? Too random. I'd hate to have a dedicated raider, always there, on time and prepared lose to a new guildie on five straight rolls on straight luck. People who are consistently good raiders should be rewarded. People who come half as much should also be rewarded but not as highly. Y'know? Leaving it purely to chance is just bad.

Something else I do like is an officer loot system, but having everyone who wants the item to message to officers, that way we can differentiate who it may be the best upgrade for depending on the gear they currently have as well as who has what already for that item slot. It's an extra step, but it's pretty hard to not justify a decision with that manner.

Reading through the M30 Patch notes...and there's LOTS of em....

I found these gems:

  • Updated the default loot rules: round robin for white/grey, need/greed for green or higher.
  • Groups will now be notified of need/greed roll winner.
  • Loot rolls now time out appropriately (1 minute for green items, 3 minutes for blue).
  • Party chat now informs players of any changes to group loot rules, instance difficulty, or game modes.
So I'm envisioning a system much like WoW with a roll and permission system.

And for the record...I hate DKP. And I have always been a MT with PLENTY of DKP.

Yeah, Tanks usually get all their tanky goodness whenever they drop with minimal competition. Healers are similar depending on how frequently the healers arrive. DPS'ers is the difficult part, as every DPS person wants to DPS more. lol

I'm ok with any REGULATED loot system, be it either officer loot or DKP. Random is exactly that, random, and causes more drama. Usually either way, the regulars get their loot and the not-quite-so-regulars get their loot on the second wave. No matter what the decision, we will have discussions both as officers and as a guild before said decision is made.

I agree random is never a good idea. Discourages the people who put in the work/effort and show up all the time from even bothering if they have bad luck and see multiple people who aren't around just stroll off with what they've been working for in just a night or two.

There's always drama somewhere with officer loot. If you take it out of other's hands and it can't ever be about "favorites". Best decisions aren't always made and can't be reversed.

Exactly. It's always tricky. That's why I personally like to take it towards a DKP route, but of course that adds so much more time and effort for someone to organize and keep track of (myself and Tig most likely as I guarantee Tristan won't do it :p).

I'll research alternatives to both Officer/Master loot and DKP in the near future. Plus it'll be good to know how much loot drops off of bosses, that may help aid discussion.

When the time comes me and gyoin will probably put our heads together to make a big post of all the pros and cons of each system so we can all throw our 2 cents in on what we like. I have seen quite a few in action so I have seen the good and bad of each.

Oh and as far as tracking goes, I'm sure we can make Katie and Tristan write code to host the up to date list on the site where we can put in the info then everyone can see by coming here. You know, cause they don't do enough already ;)

This is why having you statistics whores around is great. I would lean towards DKP myself as Officer loot, while a good system always fosters more drama then the DKP. NUMBERS DONT LIE!

Yeah I am not for officer loot at all. Seen too many guilds break because of that. Not to mention sitting around while people bs is boring during a raid.

If there is a way that dkp can be used and not completely ignore the guy/girl who comes every now and again deserves reward for participation I'm game.

We have a lot of officer chatting to do haha.

That sounds exactly the way it should be Triage. I'm not trying to sound like a suck-up or kiss-ass or anything, but DKP is a good way to go about loot, but it needs to have a way, like you said, to reward some of the more casual players.

We are working on it :) But there WILL be a difference between a reward for a casual and a loot drop that goes to the person who spends their hard time to progress.

That's good because there is a distinct effort difference. In the end everyone gets their stuff...just at a different pace!
