GW2 Racial Skills

I was just wondering what opinions people had of racial skills. I've heard that they're supposed to be slightly less powerful than profession skills, but does that mean that they still aren't viable? Some skills, like the Sylvari tier 2 utility skill that creates a seed turret seem to be, but then there are skills like the Charr tier 3 utility skill which shoots your foe with a hidden pistol that don't seem to be worth the investment. Perhaps I'm mistaken. What do you think?
 
I changed to human when I saw they had a racial heal. I was going to go Asura just because they are small and might not be seen as well but the human racial heal and 3 condition remover racial skills are much better then the Asura racials. None of the other racials stuck out to me as must haves. I am looking at it from a WvW pvp stand point.
 
Some seem designed mainly for flavor, but some like Pain Inverter are really useful. Also, for classes that don't create many combo fields, Radiation Field is handy. Overall, I like the Asuran ones very much.

I was not impressed with the Seed turret thing that Sylvari get. It seemed to be of very limited use. Their Grasping Vines skill was OP until it got "balanced" to be a single-target root instead of AoE.
 
Exactly. Some skills seem to be more viable than others. The Elite skills are pretty cool though. Might run Hounds of Balthazar on my human.
 
Radiation Field is amazing and extremely useful if not overpowered. With it I managed to solo Veterans/Champions 3 levels higher than me (22 at the time). Caveat being that apparently everything under 30 is supposedly training grounds and the difficulty changes drastically after those zones.
 
All the utility skills have their place and can be extremely useful (radiation field stacked on top of Necro wells and marks, etc.). I feel the elites are only a side-grade for certain classes. The Asuran battle suit doesn't change your stats enough to be useful for its short duration and long cool-down and the two golems are okay side-grades at best. It really depends on the race and the class. Most of the games racial utility skills are great, and the Norn forms are great for classes like warriors.

Prayer to Dwayna seemed a bit lackluster to me. Speaking as a guardian, I think it heals for exactly the same amount and has the same recharge as Signet of Resolve, but it doesn't have the passive condition removal and its recharge time can't be reduced (as with Signet Mastery). Not sure how that compares with other professions.
 
Wiki says its a 40-50% heal, is that not correct anymore?

Also, note I am playing a Mesmer.
