What role do you wish to play in the guild? For example: PvP, PvE, Casual/Social
All of the above. Got mildly serious about both PvE and PvP in WoW (see below), as well as in ToR (for the short period of time that I played it).

As far as the social element of the game is concerned, I'm usually quite talkative on guild chat. I'm always happy to help out other guild members, especially when it comes to discussing class abilities and gameplay mechanics. Even as a casual player, it's fun to learn about your class' boundaries, and how to push them.

I'm not just sunshine and rainbows, though; I enjoy making jokes at my and others' expense, so it's important to me to be in a group of people who are mature enough to laugh at themselves as well as others. Social groups like this would be boring as hell if everyone was just licking each other's behinds all day, amirite?

Which previous MMO's or online games have you played and how long for?
Played vanilla WoW practically from release, and quit once Burning Crusade came out, only to come back near the end of WotLK and play for another year or two in Cataclysm. Also played The Old Republic for roughly half a year. I also dabbled in the first Guild Wars game, but it was never really my cup of tea.

Were you a part of a guild? What was your experience?
The last guild I was in struck the perfect balance for me: met a couple times a week for advancing PvE content (if you wanted to), but treated it like a game and not a job. We probably raided for less than 5 hours per week, but still did well and had a blast while we were at it. We also periodically made groups for arena or rated BG, which was a nice change of pace. I never advanced to the highly competitive brackets of PvP, mostly because the time commitment just didn't seem worth it. All in all, I made a lot of good friends there.

That guild ended up quitting WoW shortly after the post-Firelands content was released and went to ToR for something fresh. It was fun for a few months, and we casually raided/PvPed together. Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot to do at maximum level, and once you'd completely leveled one class it was essentially the same experience for the rest of your characters. People slowly left the game, and I was one of them.

How did you hear about the Guild?
I frequent a forum where one of your members posts, and he talked about his guild very positively. He provided the link to this website, and here I am filling out an application. Unfortunately, his forum handle there is different than any name on your roster, so I'm afraid that I can't pick him out by name. I know he's from Missouri, so perhaps it's Falx?

What will you bring to the ALTTABME community? (Chatty? Skilled? Funny? Helping?)
I'm a fun and intelligent person who will add a lot to the community. Whether it's providing a laugh in guild chat, ironing out the finer points of a class or just lending a hand to a fellow member in need, I think you'll find that I'm a good dude to have around.

Will Arcanix be the only guild you join?
That's the plan.

Is there anything else you would like to throw in here at the end?
I can understand how my application may make me seem like I'm less of a casual player than may be desired in this guild. However, I'm starting a new job soon, and its schedule may not be easy or predictable. That's why I believe a guild like this is perfect for me: a strong, fun community to come to that doesn't necessarily require me to be on at a certain time or farm in my free time.

Hopefully you like what you've read in my application, and I hope to see you all in game soon!

I would like to see you more active in the community. I just don't know from this app alone.

Update: my acquaintance in the guild is indeed Falx. We've really only talked to one another within the Guild Wars 2 thread on the other forum I mentioned, so he probably won't have a lot of anecdotal evidence about me one way or the other. If you'd like, you can look at some of my posting yourself: this is the forum, and my handle is Canofbier.
