SimCity 5, Videos, Release Date, Pre-Order Discount!

Thanks for gathering the info, Tristan!

I like how the multiplayer aspect is asynchronous; the way I understand it is that I can make changes to my city, and when I log off, my changes will affect anyone in the region who logs on afterwards. I'm not aware of too many games that offer this type of multiplayer experience, we can actually play together as an international community without the necessity to be online at the same time.

Edit: And with Zakis we now have five cities in our region, we're filling up fast! This is going to be fun, ^^
Darnit, now I'm pumped up... wish we didn't have to wait until March!

Can't wait myself, its been forever since I last played SimCity 4.

ERMERGERD I am now way overly excited!!!! Right before finals, too...and right after I get back from Chicago..oh man!!!! That is really cool that changes affect the region even when someone isn't online. Who's doing the casino town? I am totally thinking that, or something future-tech like.

I'm very interested in this game. I was tempted to buy Anno 2070 when it went on sale but I held back due to the ratings it got for its DRM. The only thing I don't like about this is that it has to be played through Origin, and it won't be on Steam. Overall, I'll wait till I see more gameplay so I can be sure if I'm going to get it or not.

That makes seven! Oooooh we're going to have a blast, ^^

I'll be the dude with the environment-friendly city.
Renewable energy because I'm an oh-so-super-green Euro!

I haven't played a sim city game since the original.... But I am tempted to grab this. Probably going to wait on the purchase, just because I may be getting hyped from reading all your comments.

I usually pre-order a game when I see a nice deal. By the time the game is just a few days away from being released, I've gathered enough information about it to decide if I want to keep the pre-order or cancel it.

Come on, Bruce! Be our number eight! ^^

Maybe. I have some big expenses in the very near future, so I'd rather hold off on "maybe" games for now. But put me at 50/50. I'm your 7.5

I have never played a SimCity game. What is the point of it in a nutshell? I watched the video link, but it just looks like you are bulding stuff? Is there any other point to it?
Also, for someone that gets motion sickness from FPS games or fast camera panning, is SimCity something that might be difficult for me to play?
Not sure I will buy it, but more interested because so many of you are planning to get it.

SimCity is a city-building simulation game. There will be fires, police, crimes, transportation troubles, money problems, ect. So, essentially, you build a city and watch it grow then manage it. In a nutshell, of course :)

Build a city and wait for a tornado or godzilla to destroy it.

Oh so kind of like Sims? Duh... that makes sense. So what makes this version different? The multiplayer aspect? I can set my neighbor's house on fire? LOL

Haha, I don't think you can set their house on fire...but you can make their sims sick by using coal power and stuff. It's not like Sims at all. Sims is very micro level, one person or household where SimCity is very much macro level.

So wait a second, if I live in Dictator Tristan's country he can make me sick by using coal and nuclear power plants and such? :)
Seems like I would be putting a lot of trust in to the hands of my countrymen/women, hehe. Maybe I'll continue my hermetic existence in GW2 for now and see how long it takes before you guys are blowing up shit in SimCity. :D Post screenies/videos or it didn't happen!

I plan on being the asshole who dumps waste into all your shit and makes massive moneys while you all deal with my shit. No but seriously I like the aspect of this multiplayer that will let us all play together and work toward greater goals. Sure we could have a region that we wreak havok on with smog crime and villians. But we should def have a Utopia as well where we do our best to max out!

Trust me this ins't "THE GAME" we are all looking for, but its multiplayer aspect caters more toward our community that GW2, and more along the lines of Minecraft without the shitty graphics.

Jia summed it up nice for our international folk too:

How many people can play together, as for the game I'm right on the edge of getting it.

EDIT: Just saw Tristan's post/tweet, I'll see if I can pre-order it today.
