Last week, the newest pokemon game was announced, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y.

I absolutely loved playing pokemon. I still do. I'm not ashamed of it. I had a sweet pokemon team on Pokemon white that I competed with. I'll take on any challenges for proof. But yeah. The video really hit me with childhood memories. I even went out today and bought Black Version 2 just to give myself something to fiddle with until the new ones comes out.

Hell, I even went to a pokemon convention in the year 2000 in Boston. Played in a tournament and did really well. I even had an official Mew for the original Red and Blue games. Legit from nintendo itself, the very first "special event" pokemon in the US. I still have the certificate of authenticity (somewhere). I played with my friends Max and Mike (not Superduck). It was awesome. We did everything we could and all of us officially had 151 legit pokemon in our original Red and Blue games. It was awesome.

Then Pokemon Silver/Gold came out. OMG we were excited. But the continuation of these stories get dull. We kept playing, but we weren't quite as excited as before. Maybe because we were getting older. But we all still played. Still loved it. Just no conventions. No crazy trades, or loopholes, or "GOTTA GET THAT RARE POKEMON" feeling.

Do any of you have good stories / memories of the pokemon days? Excited for X/Y? WANNA BATTLE?

I actually saw this on their Facebook like a week ago. My only hope is that this generation actually looks like Pokémon. No trash bags or ice cream cones this time. Personally my favorite games were the 3rd gen ones. I probably have more hours on Ruby Version then I do any other game. I remember freaking out when I caught my first legit shiny Pokémon in it. It was a gold Poochyena I caught somewhere in the starter area. Good times, good times...I'd definitely be up for some Alttabme online tournaments lol.

Cool, I found the thread. I almost started a new one but I figured that we already had one dedicated to Pokemon. Anyhow, the reveal for this game got me interested in Pokemon again. Considering that I only have access to portable gaming right now, the timing couldn't be better. I just recently completed playthroughs of FireRed and Emerald on an emulator, and have now moved on to HeartGold. Now that I'm working with Pokemon I can actually transfer, I've started actually caring about what I do. I've researched EVs, IVs, breeding, etc. I've decided that by the time X and Y come out, I want to have my ideal team assembled, and all the regions completed (I never did explore Unova). But now that I've dedicated myself to becoming a formidable trainer...

I'M CALLIN' YOU OUT, GYOIN.

It seems to me that you're the premier trainer here, and I'm gunna take you down. Get ready, because when X and Y gets here, I'm going to challenge your "sweet" team.

In the mean time though, I'd love to be regaled with tales of victory, defeat, and mirth that you guys have to share.

I had six offical Mews...I went to a shopping mall where they were being given out, but at the end of the day the queue was small...so I kept getting in line until they started to recognize me :p

Ooh, I forgot to share an amusing anecdote.

So during my Emerald playthrough, I'm in Victory Road, fighting a Cool Trainer. The cool trainer sends out his Claydol while I send out my Manectric, Bolt. Bolt was a much higher level and only had very little experience to go before the next, so I decided to keep him in and spam Quick Attack. Still, I'm worried because Claydol could use a ground move at anytime. However, possibly the worst AI fail ever occurred.

Turn 1: Enemy Claydol used Skill Swap (so now Bolt had Levitate)
Turn 2: Enemy Claydol used Earthquake!
Bolt's Levitate grants it immunity to ground attacks!

I don't think I've laughed so hard at an NPC in my entire life.

Lol, I am actually doing a playthrough of Black v2 right now. I'm about 7 badges in so far. Currently running with a Growlithe, Jolteon, Yanma, Lucario, Golduck, and Serperior, all in the mid to high 40's at the moment. My White v1 has my tourney team on it though. All EV Trained and max level and 3 of the 6 shiny. Time and effort, probably 600+ hours on that game... slightly shameful, but it was right around when alttab was first starting up. Before our BLR battles online....

Chez, I will battle you when you are ready. I haven't touched my tourney team in a year, and I think it's time to bring them out of retirement. Shame is, I'm sure the meta game has shifted significantly since then, so you may have the upper hand.

I tried getting into Pokemon back when I had a GBC. I could never sustain my interest past the start area though. I also found the show really annoying, so that turned me off too.

I have the original DS (Yes, the original big and bulky silver DS). I don't want to go buy the 3ds to play it so i may hold off a little till i can scrape up some money. Gotta pay for Christmas at Disney first.

Well, the current gen (Black/White v2) is still DS. Doesn't require 3DS I believe. X/Y will require a 3DS though, but that's not until October 2013.

I just recently looked up how IVs work. And oh boy, it's just too crazy for me. The probabilities and time required is cuh-razy. Also, Gyoin, if my research has indicated anything, the current metagame is Stealth Rocks, Stealth Rocks, Stealth Rocks. Probably an exaggeration though, as the intenet tends to blow things out of proportion. I've got my team figured out though. I want to go Umbreon (my favorite Pokemon, I always have to have it in my party), Arcanine, Manectric, Feraligator, Gallade, and Staraptor/Braviery. The last 2 are still up for debate, but I feel pretty good with that team. I also want to attempt to make a team of Eeveelutions.

Chez, if you ever want to battle, let me know. But I'm not tipping my hand of my team roster :) It's kinda crazy. I love it.

I'm not even close to being ready. I'm only about 1/3 of the way through my Heart Gold playthrough. That's just my prospective team. I might switch it up depending on my experiences, especially in Unova. I'm still just learning the competitive terms, like Wall and Sweeper. When the ultimate showdown does arrive, are we going to be doing Smogon rules?

Umbreon's one of my favorites too. :)

I absolutely love Eevee and Eeveelutions (I've wanted to make a team of them as well). I'm really annoyed that B/W doesn't give you the option of getting one unless you transfer. If any of you have one or two Eevees you can trade me (a bred one is fine), I'd be super grateful. I only have B/W right now, so my options for tradebacks are limited at the moment. I haven't even finished either game, lol. My team is only level 30ish, so I won't be doing any epic battling anytime soon either. /sadface

I'm annoyed that I've missed getting a lot of the special Pokemon too. Stupid special events. :x

I can breed you eevee's all you want. Haha, in Black/White 2 you can actually catch some in the wild. WEIRD.

Pssh. Already had my Umbreon get busy with a ditto (try to get THAT image out of your head. /shudder). Anyhow, I got quite a few Eevees with natures that I like, and decent IVs. I just have to EV train them now (the pun is unintentional). Also, getting the evolution stones in HeartGold is a lot more work than the other games.

Yeah I saw that, thanks Zevrix!

And update on my game, finished the unova pokedex in my black 2, now working on national. Much harder to accomplish.
