Tips on visiting New York.

Seriously. Get out of my way. If you take nothing from this video just know that there is roughly 28 hours in a given day in NYC and we just run faster to get it down to 24. MOVE PEOPLE LETS GO.

One reason I didn't care for NYC. I had never been to a "big city" before and I was a little overwhelmed. Got lost a lot, people ran into me a lot. Junkies solicited me, A WHOLE HELLUVA LOT. I'll stick to my relatively sleepy beach towns from now on, if at all possible.:babymonkey:

My wife and mines first visit to NYC was an interesting one. Got lost, asked a police officer for directions. Got asked for money by a hobo and then he proceeded to follow us (Went into a coffee joint and had some lunch) . Almost got mugged by different set of people. That was a very interesting trip to NYC but to top it off we ice skated at Rockerfeller Center

Whenever I go downtown for lunch, I get solicited for handouts. I do buy sandwiches for them sometimes, but I never hand over cash.

Honestly, I don't get it. I've been in tough financial trouble, but I never resorted to begging. Are they just too lazy to apply for govt support or go to one of the MANY shelters in the city? Seems like that would be less trouble than asking random strangers for spare change.

Anyway, I definitely need to go to NYC at least once. It's on the list.

There was this documentary on people who pan handle or beg for change. One of the people interviewed made serveral hundred dollars a day from spare change not to mention the disability he was getting every month. Homeless people are homeless because they want to be, not because they are poor.

Oh and like chris rock says, "if you see a homeless person with a funny sign, he hasn't been homeless that long. A real homeless person is too hungry to be funny."

This statement is not a fact. Perhaps I will go weigh in on that rant.

If you are visiting the city as a tourist and stick to the touristy places you are usually fine. Locals know to avoid those places. There is no avoiding certain places though so just be aware of your surroundings and make sure you aren't inconveniencing anyone.

It's really important to be aware of the time of day too. No one wants to deal with you between the hours of 7-10am and 4-6pm. That's probably when you will see the most amount of heavy people traffic. Plan your day around that.

Really simple. Don't stop in the middle of the sidewalk and expect not to get hit.

Other than that carry on.

Just follow the flow of traffic. If the light is green and people are walking into the street, look and make sure its ok and go ahead. Don't just stand there in my way.

Walk on the road if you want to get through timesquare. Fuck the sidewalk, that is where the tourists are.
