Wildstar My "statistical" predictions for Wildstar.

Here are my projections for stats when Wildstar releases:

Because Wildstar is essentially a hardcore WoW(come on don't lie to yourself), the audience they are getting will be much more MMO "worn". They want to get end game content, they want to be the best, they are NOT casual.

% of players Hardcore (play more than 6 days a week) 81%
% of players Casual (play less than 2 days a week) 9%
% of players Casual who stop playing after they can't get engaged in content (played for 20 hours total) 10%

After those percentages from the remaining playing players: % of players who return to WoW with the expansion: 30% because they realize it is the same game but less Horde Versus Alliance.

Which brings me to The Exiles and The Dominion. Because of the Hardcore mentality this game is going to embody, the hardcores usually have a specific mindset, persona, clothing attire, musical choices, all proven via the goog's... I mean even the color scheme(which is actually something I like being colorful) being used for the game has come under fire because the "hardcore gamer" which doesn't have to be a raider, wants to feel BADASS. Why do you think shoulderpads are so BIG? They add "baddassery". That being said you will end up with:

70% Dominion
30% Exiles

This will be a CRUSHING blow to the world PvP and overall feel, but with the Dominion giving off that aesthetic of the "bad guys", the more hardened veteran MMO player will flock toward them because they want to stay away from the "kids" albeit the "kids these days are 30 year old adult".

The other problem is that the 20% who choose Exiles will do it for 1 of two reasons: Funny to kill someone as a Bunny or just loved the bunnies.

The dominion will attract the stronger female players due to the strong feminist characteristics of the Drakken, majority of female players I imagine will end up with that kind of character, especially with real life mimicking the need for "strength" over "jiggly physics", i.e. Hillary for Prez.

This will leave the newer players, the joksters, and 1 or 2 really good guilds on Exiles side.

PvP servers will need to combine to make it more fun, PvE servers will be the only viable option if not playing the Dominion. And the imbalance will make warplots and arenas unbearable.

Conclusion:

This game will be successful, but it is going to eat up, tear apart, and spit out anyone who is a casual player, runs a casual guild, or plays an mmo single player mode.

That is why I urge all members of AltTabMe to get their ducks in order, look at this game as a game that can only be logged into if you sign into mumble first. Look at this game as something you cannot explore alone. Look to OUR community as the reason to play not the game, not at the game to play with a community.

We are strong, we are funny, we are unique individuals. And we will make any game fun, as long as we play it together, mess around, joke around, and enjoy. Otherwise, I honestly believe this game is going to tear your virtual world asunder.

AND AIN'T NO BODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!

All %'s and numbers here are an obvious attempt to make my opinions cold hard facts. As well I actually think this game will do well because of the fact that is plays like WoW. They marketed it really well. It will fill that "Don't want to play WoW" mentality void, by essentially being WoW, but not...... haha

% of players Hardcore (play more than 6 days a week) 81%
% of players Casual (play less than 2 days a week) 9%

70% Dominion
30% Exiles

My guesstimates -

Hardcore - 30%
Casual - 60%
Quitters - 10%

Dominion - 55%
Exiles - 45%

End Game

PvE Primary - 60%
PvP Primary - 15%
Evenly Mixed - 25%

Yes, it's a hardcore based game, but even so, the casuals really are the ones who carry MMO's subscription/activity wise. The solo'ers. These are just my estimates based of previous MMO statistics. Even with a different structure of this MMO combat and end-game wise, I highly doubt it will change the MMO base-type of player to such an extreme of hardcore.

Completely agree. I am glad we choose the Exiles. I feel it will be more of a challenge and will help those stay engaged in the game instead of just steam rolling over opponents.

This is why I pushed for the Exiles hard. The thing that made "For the Horde" had nothing to do with Lore. It had to do with the fact that we ALWAYS felt like we were getting our faces mashed in on PVP servers. Thus when we got together we HATED THOSE ALLIANCE! And when we suceeded against them, god it was sweet! If we yelled in General, I AM GETTIN GGANKED, we were met with... "So?" Maybe one person helped us. It made us better. It also made us frustrated hahahaha but it made us stronger later on and when we got bigger and badder we went and helped people.

If the trend continues with that many on the Dominion side, the Exiles are going to be a tightly knit group. Kinda... like... wait for it..... AltTabMe!!!!

I agree with Tr1age, I feel the people will flock more to Dominion side due to the "cosmetic" looking good side of things and also for a twisted sense of justice with a little power hungry on the side.

I feel like Gyoin's numbers for Exile/Dominion are overall more accurate but per server it will vary wildly.

Ahh, yes, I should have added the "Over-all guesstimate totals across all realms" stipulation.

As a self admitted casual I don't know nearly enough to have an informed opinion. But I do know that I was overjoyed to learn we'd be an exile guild because I always like playing as "the good guys." I'll admit too that I'm racist, because humans are always the best, but that was less of an issue since they're available in both factions.

My primary concern is if I'm too casual to justify dropping my money on a copy and a sub. I know you guys would show a hardcore MMO Virgin like me the ropes, yet I worry that a lack of time or a deficit of skill will lead to me falling behind.

I am the 19% (well, hopefully not).

I was a noob for a long time before I started running as MT for a guild. Gaming skills can be learned. Rotations nailed down, mechanics mastered, reactions improved. But good players are not 'good' because of their skills. Good players are great because of who they are. Great people first. Good gamers second.

That shit is deep Fox.

It's a fact that 72% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

That being said I can easily see this game being Dominion heavy, but I am ok with that. There will be servers that will have a higher Exile population. You have to understand what you are getting yourself into when creating a character on those servers. It's not going to be easy to level when you are getting ganked 3v1. It will be more fun though when you and a buddy take on those gankers and force them back down the hole they came from.

Exactly, and that's why we have guildies to help people level and protect us from those evil dominion guys. :)
