Here are my projections for stats when Wildstar releases:
Because Wildstar is essentially a hardcore WoW(come on don't lie to yourself), the audience they are getting will be much more MMO "worn". They want to get end game content, they want to be the best, they are NOT casual.
% of players Hardcore (play more than 6 days a week) 81%
% of players Casual (play less than 2 days a week) 9%
% of players Casual who stop playing after they can't get engaged in content (played for 20 hours total) 10%
After those percentages from the remaining playing players: % of players who return to WoW with the expansion: 30% because they realize it is the same game but less Horde Versus Alliance.
Which brings me to The Exiles and The Dominion. Because of the Hardcore mentality this game is going to embody, the hardcores usually have a specific mindset, persona, clothing attire, musical choices, all proven via the goog's... I mean even the color scheme(which is actually something I like being colorful) being used for the game has come under fire because the "hardcore gamer" which doesn't have to be a raider, wants to feel BADASS. Why do you think shoulderpads are so BIG? They add "baddassery". That being said you will end up with:
70% Dominion
30% Exiles
This will be a CRUSHING blow to the world PvP and overall feel, but with the Dominion giving off that aesthetic of the "bad guys", the more hardened veteran MMO player will flock toward them because they want to stay away from the "kids" albeit the "kids these days are 30 year old adult".
The other problem is that the 20% who choose Exiles will do it for 1 of two reasons: Funny to kill someone as a Bunny or just loved the bunnies.
The dominion will attract the stronger female players due to the strong feminist characteristics of the Drakken, majority of female players I imagine will end up with that kind of character, especially with real life mimicking the need for "strength" over "jiggly physics", i.e. Hillary for Prez.
This will leave the newer players, the joksters, and 1 or 2 really good guilds on Exiles side.
PvP servers will need to combine to make it more fun, PvE servers will be the only viable option if not playing the Dominion. And the imbalance will make warplots and arenas unbearable.
Conclusion:
This game will be successful, but it is going to eat up, tear apart, and spit out anyone who is a casual player, runs a casual guild, or plays an mmo single player mode.
That is why I urge all members of AltTabMe to get their ducks in order, look at this game as a game that can only be logged into if you sign into mumble first. Look at this game as something you cannot explore alone. Look to OUR community as the reason to play not the game, not at the game to play with a community.
We are strong, we are funny, we are unique individuals. And we will make any game fun, as long as we play it together, mess around, joke around, and enjoy. Otherwise, I honestly believe this game is going to tear your virtual world asunder.
AND AIN'T NO BODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!
All %'s and numbers here are an obvious attempt to make my opinions cold hard facts. As well I actually think this game will do well because of the fact that is plays like WoW. They marketed it really well. It will fill that "Don't want to play WoW" mentality void, by essentially being WoW, but not...... haha
