GW2 8/2 Stress Test - Aftershocks?

SO, did the stress test sway anyone else's opinions on professions and such?

I really enjoyed the warrior and am fairly confident it will be my main in PvE, but I didn't enjoy it in WvW nearly as much as I thought I would. So, I'm now considering a *Ranger, since they just look like a blast to play.... and I love bows and like collecting pets.

Overall, it just confused me even more. :(

I really did enjoy running around with the guild in WvW though, that was a blast. :)

I know Ranger is my main. 100%. I'm pumped that I was able to test not only my new laptop, but the hotel internet I will most likely be playing on while I travel. Definitely glad I'm super busy with work, or I'd be feeling the cravings worse.

Engineer's rifle gives me everything ;)
Two great CC effects and a way to cheat at jump puzzles
Talking about the warrior specifically. Engys have only 3 weapon choices, Rifle, Pistolx2 and Pistol/Shield. Your tool kits are varied, but also lock another skill, so they have to give you more on your weapons to justify.

While I was being facetious, you do have a point. I didn't notice an abundance of CC on the warrior, which I do like, warriors do get all the fun toys (or the majority at least). I'm still not happy with the majority of the engi kits to be honest, but I'm confident they'll continue to be tweaked. Until then I'm happy with the aspects of the Engi I know work - weapons, grenades and several elixirs.

Well I played a Elementalist in BW3 like it alot with the aoe in WvW but in the stress test I played a guardian in WvW and love how I was able to run in a group and take a shit ton of damage and make them run from me. I think the guardian is a better fit for me I love running around in WvW like a god. GW2 is so much fun in pve and pvp hope we get more stress test soon.

Yeah, I'm thinking my original choice of guardian might be the best, the more I think about it. Long story short, I'm still undecided I guess. >_<

For a little while, I played the guardian with some pretty terrible pugs in sPVP. It was terrible, I'm supporting the crap out of them... Yet they still can't take advantage of it or do enough dmg. On the other side, I played with guildees on the guardian and coordinated cc and called targets, that was almost too easy lol. It seems like the guardian is super fun in groups but warrior is still funnest solo. So I have to make a choice based on what I will play most often... In group or solo????!!!

That's pretty much exactly how I feel about the ranger. It's horrible in sPvP if your team isn't coordinated and no one has any support. But as soon as you play with some friends that are coordinated and there is actual support, I found I pretty much destroyed people.

Really? I played a lot of solo and loved my Ranger. Maybe it's just a spec difference?

Definately, as previously stated, I loved the Engi class, but I was ready to give it up in BWE1 because I seemed to die all the time. It wasn't until I got some levels and put points into vitality that the class worked for me. I think you need to get to a minimum of L20 (first major trait) to get an feel for any class.

Or there's sPvP...

Yeah, I pretty much went straight DPS. High crit/power. I had a trap to slow to escape but overall I'd have to change what I wanted to do to make it work with a bunch of dumbasses. Also.. when I did start downing people when I was with randoms, I'd quickly be the first one focused from then on.

I played the Ranger to test out the sPvP build I worked on. Tried out my way and with the tweaks and tips from Gyoin and found that I actually really liked it. I only really died hard when I lagged bad in spikes or got too many enemies too close to me (that happened a lot in pugs especially). I tended to just stay away from the fray and pewpew from a distance. When I was going toe-to-toe in like a cap spot or something switching to the great sword was pretty awesome, the counter attack skill is nice works for pushing them back, allowing me to switch back to my bow and use Point Black Shot to get them even further away, and then go at them with other attacks until they were dead.

After I played around with that I rolled a Human thief, it was the one race/profession combination I had yet to try. I had a Norn Thief at one point but to me it just didn't work Norn are too big to be thieves... it was weird for my taste at least. But I really did like the human version. Further proving to me that race is just as important as profession. Now I just can't wait for the game to come out.

I found a great spec that lent itself to support if my teammates were around, but solo it shined also. in the rare 1v1 I could put out some serious burst. I could hold out against 2 or 3 enemies for a while if need be and a few times I got high ground above a point and was allowed to just rain death from above along with my spider pet.

After the stress test and watching more videos from BWE 3 I'm once again torn on what I want to play, I may end up leveling a few classes at once till one really sticks with me.

As a few people said already, I think to really get to know a class you need to play it in a group of people who actually play well. Otherwise you might as well be playing solo. For those of us that like playing support roles this goes doubly true.

Edit: I am going to stick with my ele for release and see what happens with the class
