ALTTABME City - Membership List and Theorycraft

Build order on those city hall upgrades seems inportant too. I went dept of finance, utilities, and safety. Once the game figured that I SHOULD have dept of Education (about 40k pop), my crime went completely out of control. Even though I had multiple, maxed out police stations,, Maxisman, and No Dr Vu.

Maxisman was worthless. Every time I paid him 1k and told him to fight crime, he never made an arrest.

All that to say, it looks like high schools and maybe even univ. is important. Grade school only makes crime central.

This pretty much happened to me. I was also trying to play the whole thing on Cheetah speed...there comes a point where no matter what you do you cant keep up with the events happening. Regardless It seems like education should be particularly important. I am in the process of shifting my city to a clear focus of manufacturing electronics and such so education is super important. Just be careful, University is EXPENSIVE to upkeep.

On the note of expenses it seems to me like it is more prudent to build a bunch of small fire and police stations spread out for coverage rather than build the huge police precinct and fire station right when you get them as their upkeep is expensive and it wasnt doing much for me. Since I expanded so quickly I also have the problem of inadequate roads for the amount of traffic. Ah the life of a Sim Mayor.

I started with Dept. of services and got sewage treatment as fast as i could. Then dept. of education to get industry up a tech level. This helped a ton with pollution & land value, and allows me to keep residents happy even with an ore mine in the middle of town. I just bought the dept. of safety so i can get advanced fire fighters.

I've had no troubles with crime, which is nice. But the reason is that I have way too many jobs, and not enough workers so everyone is occupied. I've just added a school of science so once my industry upgrades to high-tech it will gain more income and be less likely to shut down due to low workforce. May add Evil Dr. Vu as well, to jump up to high tech faster.

P.S. Loving this game so far.

I'm a little miffed about all the graphical glitches I keep getting. Buildings flicker (I can see them one second, then the next they're gone, then back again), the sky flashes white every now and then, and random other things pop in and out of existence.

Are trees supposed to disappear over time? Because I found myself planting them in the same places over and over again.

That said, I was enjoying playing last night. I don't seem to be doing as well as I was in the beta. And for the record, I'm pretty slow at getting things built, because I'm particular about how my city looks. Roads are so expensive. :(

Also, windowed fullscreen mode (and bigger cities): do want.

The main graphical thing I've noticed is roads on uneven ground. I chose a map with a crater in it, and snaking up and down the sides of the crater looks funky. It looks like there were mudslides over every road placed along a slope.

My main graphical error is with airports. THEY ARE too damn finicky. I picked a FLAT area i mean FLAT and it said it was uneven AFTER i built it for more runways :)

So far I have made every city type that I didn't want to make lol I am currently running a coal ore heavy industrial export buisness. all my cities have grossed a SHIT TON of cash. But I get bored or a power plant explodes and I lose it all sending my money to a new city lol.

I am not sure what my actual not a test city will be yet. I am enjoying drilling and stuff a little too much even if I put my industry upwind of my residential EVERY TIME.

Yeah -- by open I meant open/available cities in your private region. :)

I can't find any public regions to join and even if I did I'd be concerned about the trolling, neighbors claiming cities then not playing after plopping a road, etc.

I'm gonna try to get into the region again tonite. Here's hoping the invite finally works.

You did invite me, right?:alien5:
