What's new

ALTTABME Minecraft

It'll be unfortunate for me if it's reset, since I've finally started working on my building ideas. >.<

If this does happen, I'd prefer a vanilla server, so that we can keep the server updated. If we do mod, my favorite mods are ender storage, microblocks (from redpower.. I'm not sure if you can get them alone, but it'd be nice), and maybe mo' creatures. Thaumcraft looks interesting too. I'd be fine with just ender storage, but microblocks make it more fun to decorate. :)

Edit: I forgot the minimap. That thing is amazing to have. I could function without it, but I'd have to go back to writing down all the coordinates. Boo.

ooo yeah, I've seen some pretty amazing custom maps, that sounds neat. I've even had one that takes after super smash bros, but minecraft style, and it worked perfectly.

You know, I realized, we don't even need to reset the server, you could just make another one though I'm not sure how hosting works like that, I host them off my computer. Anyone know how fast of a computer you need for a certain amount of people to play at a time?

I will have Fios VERY soon so I might be able to host a server for different needs as well. Also we could take donations to get an actual server as well. It actually doesn't cost too much per month.

been a bit since anyone's posted, anyone build anything new? I'd like to see, I hadn't been on in a while and now all my alchemical chests are full of red matter, lol

I've been playing on play.stargatemv.com server, I've actually donated and got the highest rank. They ended up getting rid of Skyblock and I don't miss it really. If anyone would like to join me on this server in the meanwhile you're more than welcome to join. The owner has been trying to get more people to join and seems to have some plans, but hasn't divulged any as of yet. Crossing my fingers for something good.

I don't know how to set up a proper server, but I wish I did. It would be an excellent source of cash without having to leave my house... which is what I need.

Anyway, join me there, I'm of course LiloDay =)

I'm happy to update/restart the server and make it anything you guys want. Just come up with a general consensus of what you'd like, and let me know. :D

The 6-months of time that I pre-paid has 39 days left on it though, and I'm not sure I'm going to renew since I'm not really using it any more (way too busy with work).

(edit: I'll also provide a backup of the world like I've done before if i do end up not renewing, so you all can continue building on your own, or on another server with it)

Been pretty busy but I'll probably be jumping back in soon. If we can get enough people on board Nahku there's an awesome Hunger Games map that I'd love to play.

Lilo how many people are on that server and what are they building?

I've been playing solo with a custom set of mods for the most part. Though I haven't had much time for that lately anyway. :(

As far as preference, I'd say vanilla. Keeps it simple and less cheaty-boring.

As interesting as Tekkit can be, I am a fan of vanilla. I love building massive structures simply by harvesting(I dont play shitty creative mode), spelunking, etc. Tekkit is fun and all but its like bringing a rocket launcher to a knife fight. Instead of crapping myself running around in the dark bowels of Minecraftia with torches and an iron sword. I am flying through caverns with dark matter armor and red matter weapons lol. A few of those mods are nice though. If I had the ability to generate/create material in the vanilla version it would be perfect. It would be something to work towards instead of spending half my time harvesting stuff when I am fully setup in the game.

Agreed. I can wipe the host back to vanilla if you want. I think I can save the current state, and swap back and forth as desired if we change our mind.

I'm a fan of vanilla as well, and would probably be more likely to play more with a fresh vanilla world.

I do like a couple mods though... namely minimap.. god I love minimap...

Mini map is helpful. Its up to everyone else and ultimately you as the server owner. Is it easy to use just mini map aside from the whole mod pack?

Tekkit is the first time I have not installed all my own mods. It is pretty straightforward, but not super simple. You just have to unpack a zip file in the right folder. That folder can be hard to find sometimes. Oh and you sometimes have to delete a file in there too.

I think it would be easy enough. I also love the minimap- or anything that would give waypoints. And if you wanted just a little extra flavor, Thaumcraft is fun too (and not as game breaking as EE), but it would be easier to keep the server updated without extra mods.

Thaumcraft is super cool. If I was allowed only one mod on a server I would probably pick thaumcraft over any other. Its not op like buildcraft/ee/redpower and it does some really cool things. You can also really ignore it and it won't change your vanilla game play except for some different mobs and trees and drops.

Just skimmed some articles about it, interesting indeed.

I prefer Industrialcraft with Redpower. RP is way more efficient than Buildcraft anyway. I can't stand Vanilla, I run out of stuff to do within a couple hours. If I'm gonna be mining for materials, I might as well be doing it with a Laser.

One thing though, adding Timber or Treecapitator would be awesome.

lasers are cool, but wands that cut wood from the top down are better.
I normally use Timber or Treecapitator for that, but if there is such a tool available, that would be an acceptable solution as well!

I still like the balance of the IC2 Mining Laser and Miner for mining ores, at least when compared to some of the explosive mining methods of Equivalent Exchange. I will admit there is a TON of stuff in Tekkit/Technic that I have not explored yet.

Someday I'd like to see how some of the bigger mods compare in terms of weapons/armor/resource gathering. For example, it would be a really cool competition to see which mod could be the first to make a synthetic diamond (or some other comparable goal). I would volunteer for the IC2 team if such an event were to occur.
