Alright, with superbowl this weekend, everyone knows what happens after, right? SPRING TRAINING FOR BASEBALL! Ahh, it's almost that time of year again! The leather, the wood, long hours on grass with hot dogs and beer... Most magical time of the year. I really don't have a better time than watching baseball for 7.5 months of the year. I love it. I watch as much spring training as possible, typically watch most (if not all) of my beloved Red Sox all year long.

Now, last year was a turbulent year... /sigh it really pushed the faith of red sox fans. No one was that excited for Bobby V. He ruined our pitching staff, created friction with a lot of the veterans, and over all crumbled under pressure. Tried to bring small ball to a big hitting league, and royally fucked up. Pitching went to hell, lost some of the most iconic players (Youkillis... I grew my first goatee to his specifications our of respect), and overall plagued with injuries and inexperienced rookies that had a shit coach instructing them incorrectly.

Now, new year, new coach, new team! In a few weeks I'll be head first into spring training most of what you guys hear from me on mumble will be shouts and screams and joy and pain and everything in between as we start to get revved up for the season ahead. My question for you guys is am I the only baseball fan here? I know we have some haters.

Patience and strategy. It's all about the pitcher/batter battle, and people don't pay attention enough to appreciate the intricate balance there really is. Watching every pitch, knowing anything can happen at any moment... The tension, the emotion... It's a shame that such a thing is wasted on an intelligent man like yourself.
 
I get it, it just doesn't do anything for me. I will go watch any type of game live with friends, but the only sport I can get into enough to follow for the whole season is the NFL.

I know my last post sounds judgy, but I am happy for the people who get enjoyment out of it. It's just not my thing. Same thing with basketball. Both my parents are from Indiana so they are big basketball fans and I never got into it.

Be thankful you're not an Astros fan! I am a fan through it all but man it has been redonk! We have no farm league worth speaking of. Our owners have/are completely selfish with their spending and will trade away a player in a heartbeat to put money in his pocket. We practically are the farm league as we bring up a player, get him good, trade him off for nobody within a couple years. (ie. Hunter Pence, Michael Borne). It's really bad when you can't name most of the players on the team because we go through them so fast. This all leads to record lows in attendance in the stands and a lack of pride throughout the city for our team. The biggest attendance games are when the Yanks, Red Sox, Rangers, etc come to town and fill our stadium with their fans. Add to all that the fact that we are now in the AL and have to play in a much harder division is super rough.

I always tell people who say its boring that I bet you can't play a whole chess game without getting bored either. Baseball is a game of strategy at its core. Everyone always wants to see action but never want to pay attention to the small battles to win the war(game). Its very exciting if you keep up with everything.
Btw: Red Sox are my #2!

That's how last year felt for Sox fans. It was crazy. It was hard to be prideful of your players when they're all on the injured list or playing for other teams now. Oh well, new year new beginnings!
 
Yankees vs the Sox for opening day in April...sooo wanna be there!!!! Lookin forward to another year as a Yanks fan!
 
April 1st. JOKE'S ON YANKEES.... As long as we get our pitching in shape before then! lol

Best thing about baseball in Kansas City is the stadium. I think it's one of the most gorgeous in the country. Too bad we haven't had a team worthy of it for the last several years.

You've never been to Fenway. Classic beauty will trump all when it comes to baseball. There's nothing quite like the brick and wood structure. You walk in and you're engulfed in history. Every time I go in there, it's like I'm being swept back twenty years when I went as a child. I was with my father, grandfather, and great grandfather. My father still has the foul ball we caught in a case. It was the last time my great grandfather went to a red sox game. Writing this now is actually making me teary-eyed at work....

There is nothing like Fenway. Emotional connection or not, there is just nothing like it. Watch the 100th anniversary pbs special if you can find it. It's one of the best documentaries I've watched.

I admit, I miss our old Yankee's stadium...so much baseball history there. The new stadium is beautiful but I agree with your feelings about the history of a stadium. Never been to Fenway myself, mainly because I am afraid of getting stabbed for wearing Yankee's gear.

You won't get stabbed unless it's playoffs. You will get a lot of shit though. lol if you ever wanted to go to a game, let me know. We could figure it out. I protect you at fenway, you protect me at yankee stadium.
