Blacklight Retribution - The best multiplayer FPS, and free to play?

My User is ThatBrownGuy.

Overall my experience with the game is great, just the costs of parts and weapons is quite a lot. Buying permanent items in BLR costs quite a lot, receivers cost 5500 alone. It does however save money in the long run, but if you don't know what to get it's better to rent.

So I watched the match between triage vs gyoin and I thought the whole x-ray vision thing was a bit.. cheap??? Coming from cs, a skill that gives you wall hack seems a bit broken? I haven't played the game yet so I don't know how to base my opinion off that just yet.

It's used to stop camping and to provide a more fast paced experience. Although there is still camping, it helps a lot and can be used strategically.

I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand it speeds up gameplay significantly, but on the other it really reduces the "surprise" of turning a corner and finding someone there... Though that does somewhat still remain since it can't be on constantly... It also kind of kills sniping since you can't really hide anywhere due to people still seeing you w/ the HRV. It also kind of kills the use of the whole "silenced" weapons, and like gunshots showing up on your minimap and whatnot. It really removes alot of the tension for me, compared to playing something like black ops.

I can see how this can be a concern.

Just try it.

The way it is implemented in game just works. Its part of this game, and part of what makes it so fun.

It makes the game extremely fluid.

In most FPS's in multiplayer, if you have no targets you have to find your team and go towards them. Well, in blacklight, whenever you dont have a target, you tap HRV and go there.

Its full action, and I love it.

There is also no other radar system. This is their implementation of a radar, so you're not staring at a blipping screen all the time.

YEah I'm going to download this game tomorrow so I can give it a run. It looks fun from the vids but not sure if my pc can handle it.

just hit level 7 and I'm still crap at first person shooters. My best kdr is 1:2. but I at least go for nodes and flags and stuff.

My secondary computer can run it pretty well and its a stock q6600 on a bargain bin mobo 4gb of ram and an hd4850. its not that taxing

Blacklight Covers a wide range of PC levels.

At its best, it looks incredible with every DX9-11 feature you can think of, and even with everything disabled it looks pretty good.

Just make sure to keep world detail and textures at high. (or medium, just dont turn them to low)

Downloaded it, tried it out. I suck major ass at this game. maybe its because i havent played an fps in forever but im so bad holy crap.

observerz1 if you wanna play with a noob.

LOL They balance that out by having the easiest sniping ever. No scope swaying from walking, running, breathing, pooping, whatever and no gravity/bullet drop. Its the most cakewalk sniping ever. There is no penalty besides being unable to permanently hide in a corner.

I just tried this out last night, it's definitely a lot of fun. Still trying to figure out the loadouts and stuff, but I'm diggin' the mechanics of the game. My tag is Nahku (or arxnahku, not sure what name it uses).

(edit: tag was wrong)
