BREAKING: Disney Buys Lucasfilm, Star Wars Ep. 7 In 2015

I have lots of hope for this. When disney bought marvel, I thought it was the end of the super hero movies that Marvel was so good at making. I watched the Avengers and it blew me away, most because Hulk stole the show.

Also, George Lucas has been hurting the series for a while now. How could Disney do any worse?

The Avengers = Joss Whedon
Pirates = Goer Verbinsky.

When left to their own devices, and without a visionary at the helm, they produce such epics as: Mars needs Moms. John Carter. Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3. Frenemies. The Odd Life of Timothy Green (tanked fiscally)

This only works if they get someone amazing to helm the new blood in the franchise. When that happens, you get such films as:

Frankenweenie (Tim Burton)
Secret World of Arrietty (Forgot the animator's name)
Brave, and every Pixar film ever made (Jeffrey Katzenberg)

etc.

They all have good and bad movies.

Joss Whedon when left to his own devices came up with (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) (Firefly) (Angel) and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog

Totally agree with you about Batman Forever...

But can't tell if knocking Joss Whedon there...cause...
Buffy went for six seasons...(and a seventh season as a comic)
Angel went for five seasons...
Firefly was only cancelled because it was too expensive, but had such a ravingly passionate audience that a film was greenlit to clean up the remnants.
And Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog was created in the midst of the WGA strike, and also caught wildfire.

Not to say he hasn't done bad work, but I'd be hard pressed to find work Joss Whedon didn't do well.

Even Dollhouse was an amazing show which, unfortunately, was cancelled after two seasons. From a writing/T.V. stand point, it was because it violated the cardinal rule of most television. Characters wind up back at the very beginning when an episode ends (See: Every episode of Star Trek ever). Rarely does a show have a long running and evolving plot where characters are dynamic and it doesn't lose it's fan base.

But damn, that show turned out amazing. I wish I could have seen it go for another three seasons.

Granted Tim Burton has made some terrible movies (terribleness is often subjective though :p), Joel Schumacher was the director of Batman Forever (and Batman and Robin). Tim Burton was only the producer. From wikipedia:
Even though Batman Returns was a financial success, Warner Bros. felt the film should have made more money and decided to make the film series more mainstream. Tim Burton, who had directed the two previous installments, was asked to restrict himself to the role of producer and approved of Joel Schumacher as director.
Never enough money. Sigh.
