So last night was the first time I've really got to put in some good game time in this game, and I enjoyed myself quite a bit. It's actually a good deal more challenging that I thought it would be. I found myself being overwhelmed several times doing missions, you really need to play smart in the more difficult stuff.
At the moment it feels like there's just an overwhelming amount of stuff to do, but that may wear off. I was going through the main mission line for a bit, then got side tracked by ark falls and the co-op missions. Next think I knew I had been doing that stuff for a little over 4 hours, the game really eats time.
It's not all roses though, there are some annoyances. For the life of me I can't figure out what to do with a couple weapons I have in my inventory that can't be sold, and can be broken down. They aren't good enough to use, so they just sit there taking up space, giving me the middle finger. On top of that navigating the interface can be really overwhelming at times, there's just so much shit to go through. I only recently figured out modding...at least I think I did. I've still been unable to apply a mod because they only go in certain slots, in certain guns. And none of my guns and mods match up yet.
Also, the in game voice chat is abysmal, I turned it off after the second co-op mission because it was just killing my ears. But wait! There appears to be a bug where if you turn off voice chat, it turns off text chat as well! Bravo! Hope that gets fixed in a hurry.
Annoyances aside, the game is a blast for me so far. I'm only bummed I won't be able to play much over the next week or two until I get settled in with my new move. (Downtown Baltimore if anyone is close!)
Edit: OMG I forgot the one thing that drives me up the fucking wall! Has nothing to do with gameplay, rather the dialog of the NPCs. They do the same thing here as they do in Battlestar Galactica, the one thing that annoyed me SO much that I couldn't watch it. Made up swear words to replace english swears.
It's so damn cheesy. We know what you're saying, just say it. It's like a million Flanders populating the planet. "Shtako" is the one that just really rubs me the wrong way. Just say shit! SHIT! SAY IT!
