GW2 Dungeons and Fractals

I've run 3 dungeons, all with at least 2-3 guild members. i don't have much motivation right now to pug a dungeon. Once I'm in more of a farming mode rather than leveling, I might pug some to acquire dungeon sets or crafting components. For now, I'm OK with an occasional guild run.

Rhia, Kismet, Red Omen, and I ran SE story last night, and I think it went really well, even though we didn't have much of an idea about what we were doing. We had a lot of fun and completed the instance in a reasonable amount of time. I'd definitely be interested in doing that on a weekly basis.

Yeah you guys sounded when I popped into mumble like you had your shit down. Did you see the Terminator moment?

Anyway Arah has been my thorn in the side since game launched. Best looking armor of the game. Hardest dungeon to do. I agree with the elitest attitude of you must be geared prior to entering that dungeon and know your shit, but if that is the case, I will enter it with any guildy that meets those requirements. lol That dungeon is extremely frustrating when you cannot down the last boss. The rest of it is cake.

Arah sounds like my cup of tea. I'll get up to 80, decently gear, and read some strat. Then I'll tear that boss up.

I've had "Defeat Zhaitan" hovering in the upper right for about a month now, and I've always been a rabid completionist. While most of my experience is with Honor of the Waves (still need three more runs for my boots), I'm fully geared and ready for some dungeon runnin'.

SE was fun! But fuck that fire golem.

What is considered geared? Full exotic? Full exotic with the 'correct' stats? Non-MF gear? I *think* I know what gear works best with my build (Rabid), but I'm not certain (not knowing precisely what gear I need may put me in the not knowing my shit category )

I would say for an Arah run full exotic including your weapons and jewelry. Magic find is fine as long as it isn't one of the main stats on the armor. The armor should be whatever you need for your spec. Toughness will never hurt in explorables, but as a mesmer I don't need too much cause of my build in defense skills.

I feel pretty accomplished now, after hearing you guys talk about Arah, that I actually got to run it with Kbambz, Lewen, Magg & Strange last week. Granted, it took us 3 hours... lol... but I loved it. Was a very cool experience and I would be down to run it again with anyone if/when I'm available.

It really is a much better experience, IMO, running with guildies. We build closeness and camraderie that way. But, knowing our different play styles also helps. As Tristan mentioned before, if you are a hardcore, fast-paced player and you get stuck in a 3 hour dungeon with a slow, inexperienced player like me -- LOL -- even though I think I'm fun to be around, I'm sure that can be pretty frustrating.

But Kel & Rhia & I had an awesome time last night and found out we all like watching the cut scenes and reading the dialogue and just doing our best even if we don't always know what we are doing. It was super cool.

I love that you guys got to do that. I was jealous of last nights run. Hearing you say "ooo cut scene" and everyone getting quiet reminded me of the first runs I had.

That said, as a guild we are here to help one another get better. And if that means you need help with your class, your gear, you tell us and we will help you get to where ya need!
