GW2 Halloween Incoming!

HmHm
COMING SOON
Halloween is almost here.
There’s a baleful moon on the rise and a chill in the air.
Ghosts bemoan their lonesome graves,
and bats in the belfry grow restless and crazed.
Prepare your costume; get ready for sweets.
It’s almost time to shout, “Trick or treat!”
Shadow of the Mad King

Release Overview

Halloween has a long history in Tyria, and in times past was always marked by the spirit of Mad King Thorn cavorting among the people unleashing his own brand of insanity. However, it’s been over 250 years since he was last seen, and for most people he is merely a figure of folklore. Despite this, rumors persist among the populace that something wicked this way comes.
Shadow of the Mad King is the first major game release for Guild Wars 2 and will go live on October 22. This new game update will include a number of new features for all of our players to enjoy, new content to explore and see, and a week-long Halloween event.

Posted from GW2, here.

Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I've been bummed that I don't get to do anything in RL this year since I don't have a permanent residence yet. Been looking forward to finding out what my online games are planning for the holiday. Hopefully they won't disappoint. *fingers crossed* I am pretty sad that the event is only a week.

It also seems a bit crappy to make us buy costumes with gems. I had a feeling this would happen, so I was going to stockpile gems beforehand.. but then the prices started to rise like crazy, and I ran low on gold. :(

Anyone want to buy me some gems, so I can feel pretty?! <3

Looks like I need to buy more gems. I am a sucker for all the limited time stuff. God I hope its account bound.

Ah, that magical time of the year. When demanding free sugar from strangers is ok. When frightening people isn't frowned upon. When cosplaying outside of a convention is not considered strange. Time to spend it in Tyria!

I would have liked more info on the content release. Is it level 80 stuff only?

I bought a magic truffle from a vendor the other day, so I'm set for a costume.

Tough decisions with my gems and gold T^T Just when I start ACTUALLY saving up money it's probably going to all be gone by Halloween, lol.

If GW1 is any indication the event itself will be in a city and accessible by any character level but there may be quest requiring a certain level.

My hypothesis is that a level 15 should be enough, not necessary to have a lvl 80.

I've also got a mysterious potion that will transform me into "something." I think I should definitely use it in a large crowd in case the "something" I transform into is hungry.

They've updated the site again, now there's a short trailer and dates of the four acts. And is THAT a chainsaw sword I see?

ah, gem prices, thou art a heartless bitch.

I loved Halloween in GW1. Looking forward to it in GW2. Lets get some lovin for the mad kings court.
