What's new

GW2 I gotta get a new mic and headset before morrow :(

Nope, not the only one. Well I have a mic and headset but I wanted a good one so after quite a sizable investment I picked up an Asus STX sound card and a pair of Sennheiser PC360 headsets.....unfortunately UPS completely screwed up my shipment and I won't have them for the start of the BWE (but should have them for the majority of the event)

I'm looking to buy another one, but mine isn't terrible. Just looking for comfort now.

I'm still rockin' my old wireless WoW headset from soundblaster, which was nice at the time, but I've been getting some distortion lately. I want something with surround sound for sure, any recommendations? http://www.creative.com/soundblaster/tactic3d/sigma/ looks nice, but I'm notorious for accidentally destroying wires on headsets...

(edit: holy hell, those Sennheiser PC360 are expensive, look nice though.)

(might as well make use out of this accidental double-post)

Does anyone know how well GW2 handles positional audio? I don't want to drop a lot on something like the Razer Tiamat, but it's really tempting if GW2 handles its audio well.

Falkner - do you have an onboard sound card now? Any review I can ever find never compares gaming with on-board v. a dedicated audio card. Let us know if there is a difference, please.

I do have a dedicated sound card now. I haven't gotten the headset delivered yet - UPS has screwed up the shipment several times in the last week. I'll be testing it out end of the weekend, will post my impressions. Everyone I've every talk with have always said that there is a noticeable difference in quality when you go up to a good dedicated sound card.

Don't buy the Tiamat - the mic sucks. I don't mean it's not good - it sucks. I actually returned it, it was so bad. The reason being is that Razer uses low quality unidirectional mics instead of good quality noice-cancelling mics that other headset companies (Sennheisers, Turtle Beach, etc.) use.

These are the articles I used when deciding on what to get for the sound setup, was directed there from their Tales of Tyria podcast.

The sennheiser is your best choice for sound and mic quality and build quality but it is expensive.

Works with onboard sound as well as soundcard sound.

Good to know, thanks.

Go for the PC350 if you guys want a great headset at a good price - the items listed where you can make a best offer are the best, you can really get some good deals because the seller will lower the price alot. For example the PC360 that I got is listed at $250 and I got it for $180 (+shipping), you could probably get the PC350 for like $120 or something :D

Yeah, Amazon Prime's got the PC360 for $205 with free 2-day shipping.. I might have to snag it.

Sennheiser PC360s are great, I also recommend the Steelseries Siberia V2, Razer Carcharias (For Comfort), and the Logitech G930 + G35.

Razer "CRAPHARISIASA" anything for sound is just bad imo. Might as well buy a cheaper set of no mic headphones with great sound quality and a seperate mic for the money you shell out for the brand name with Razer. I love their mice, but that's it.

Logitech I am neither here nor there for, but once again I value true soundstage over 7.1 fake soundstage made through a processed audio driver.

True 7.1 cannot be done properly on headphones/headset (I know about the Tiamats). Logitech has gotten great reviews and the Carcharias is great on comfort. As long as you can get them for cheap.

EDIT: I also recommend the Corsair Vengeance 1500 or 1300 or the Corsair HS1

You have the strangest suggestions of headsets I have seen in awhile. Are you suggesting them for sound quality? Because they don't rank highly.

Budget. Bang for the buck headsets. I don't really see the reason to overspend on a headset for quality mic and sound when the headphone and separate mic combination can be cheaper.

I recently bought a Logitech G930 headset off of newegg and I am loving it. I got tired of the 20 dollar logitech one I had hurting my ears and the mic didnt sound too great. Plus its fucking wireless, so I can get up to get a drink or something without ripping my the cord out of my computer.
