What's new

GW2 I gotta get a new mic and headset before morrow :(

It's been said on the internet that you're not going to hear the difference on a high-end head set unless you have a high end sound card to go with it.

Based on that, I'm thinking anything more than 150 dollars for a head-set would be over-kill, unless you pick up a nice sound card to with it.. yes?

Thnx guys... Am going to run out to EB <now> and see what I can scramble together, and look towards getting something nice when those tax $$$ come in...

Edit: All sorted now :) Ready as....

Very true.

If you want your ears to bleed and enjoy paying for that.

You had bad experience personally with them? Everyone I've talked with who have them have only said positive things. I got the PC360 cuz they were the upgraded models and I can't stand closed circuit headsets (hurts my ears and causes them to sweat...) - don't really care about the sound leakage so the PC360s should work far better for me. Also helps that the ASUS STX sound card come with an amp so you can get some nice power straight out of the box with the PC360s

Majority of gamers are not self pronounced audiophiles. Please make sure to read into the sarcasm there ;)

There was sarcasm there, in the ears bleeding part? I completely missed it....wait so you don't think they are bad...uh I'm confused. oh maybe the self pronounced part......you stop playing your mesmer tricks on me...

The audiophiles I've spoken with have said good things about them....though I guess it depends on what level of quality you're looking for right. I got the PC360s anyways so I'm all set - can't wait to try them out late tonight :D

Just got my 360s today, worth it. Highly recommended, great quality, light, very comfortable.

So yeah, I'm really happy with the sound from the 360s, coming from my Asus Rampage IV Forumla onboard sound (http://rog.asus.com/motherboard/formula/rampage-iv-formula/).

It supposedly has really good onboard audio.. I was wondering, would I really benefit from going to a standalone card, and if so, do you have any recommendations? It doesn't need to be top of the line, ultra-audiophile level, just for good gaming sound.
