Laptop Purchasing

And wait, on newegg I'd also get a 100 rebate, AND get a free xbox? Am I seeing this right? (on the MSI)

Then there is no reason to spend more than $1000. Get a low end Asus gaming laptop. U want specs like. i5 2.5ghz+. 500gb 7200rpm hdd. 4gb+ ram. And either a good on board gfx chip or really any gfx card.

Sounds like the MSI might be the winner in the first round of judging. If someone finds me a computer of similar specs for cheaper, let me know. Sorry if I'm ordering people around, but I literally was just put in charge of the accounting process of an entire branch in my company. Not bad for only being in the company 3 months, huh?

Congrats!

P.S. That MSI laptop looks really sweet - might get it for myself ;)

Why has no one suggested a Sony Vaio?

Overpriced. You can get the same specs for much cheaper from Asus or MSI

So. The laptop special is only available at Newegg.com - so U.S. only - and for students.......so gotta get some student to buy it with his ID and then ship the laptop along with the Xbox to me in Canada...:(

edit: or I can just walk across the street and get the laptop - just no Xbox but hey I have one already and I won't be paying shipping :D

I'm gonna get that free trial and end it after I receive said computer for free 2 day shipping. Plus 100 rebate, so 1150 for a pretty good laptop and an xbox which will, most likely, just be used as a streaming device.

I'm not sure about the ASUS and MSI but Sagers are designed to be taken apart very easily. Like remove 4 screws and expose all your components easy. Makes upgrading, troubleshooting, fixing, etc super easy. They also have very good cooling systems. Might want to look into a laptop cooler as well.

Damn wish I never sold my laptop to build this desktop, it was only a minor upgrade. ANYBODY WANNA BUY A DESKTOP?! LMAO

jumping in late here, but I have been using an ASUS g73h for over a year now for all my computer and gaming needs. Fast, pretty, and it has some of the best cooling on any laptop.

Before that I had a sager and loved it. Sager actually gets its motherboards / cpu's from the same manufacturer as alienware so its basically the same laptop except for the paint job.

for gaming on a laptop I usually REQUIRE a Belkin n52, just cant stand using the regular keyboard with them... feels odd

A month too late, but for future references I would like to refer a clevo reseller, http://www.malibal.com/

They specialize in building your clevo machine (which they rebrand as Malibal) *Sager's also a clevo reseller*

"Clevo is an OEM/ODM computer manufacturer which exclusively produces laptop computers. They manufacture and sell complete laptops under their own brand; they also sell laptop chassis to other OEMs who build laptops on the chassis, often customized for each customer."

Clevo is recognized as one of the best laptop manufacturers.
There are other independent Clevo resellers such as (http://www.xoticpc.com/) and they all do price matches so you may get an even lower price for a powerful machine.

As previously mentioned Clevos are organized and easy to open up for customization, changing thermal paste, etc.

PS: Alienware's overpriced and overrated (except for my M11x, I love my M11x ;P)
