If you are a man in RL you wanna look Sleek or Badass.
In a video game you are given just that. Or you can look like a slob, which is also an option.

In RL as a woman you wanna look sexy and bring all the boys to the yard...
Yet in a video game when those sexy looks are in there... it is sexism?

Have guys ever bitched about their characters looking too revealing? Or too badass? Or too sexy?

Why do girls bitch about this shit. I get it that majority of guys play games and woman gamers might feel ostracized, but... uhm... who is ostracizing who, the guys to the girls or the girls to themselves?

When I play a video game I am in fantasy world. I am not looking at my g/f going.. WOMAN WEAR A CATSUIT!

I just don't get it. Maybe this is where I am a guy... maybe it is because I like the sexy outfits...

I just find the hypocrisy amazing. It is like saying to a guy "Don't look at my tits" while you are wearing a VERY low cut dress... Society is defined by what we will purchase and use. You are buying the item that is putting that part of your body on display... don't see guys running around in yoga pants... Obviously that figure hugging, low cut, sexy shit is selling or they would have to change their marketing strategy...

Anyway I digress.

I dunno. If anything they should just make it super sexualized on one end of the spectrum and extremely conservative on the other end. Cater to both parties.

HOWEVER, I don't understand why they continue to bring up this topic every single time. And it goes nowhere too because they don't have direction as to what they actually want. They also keep forgetting the fact that there are plenty of modest armor pieces for all classes. The OP complains about the generous amount of skin on starter caster gear, but when I played my caster I could quickly replace it with gear I found while killing mobs. By level 2-3 I already was fully covered up. My guardian was fully suited up. Not one inch of skin showing aside from her face. Conversely I know some heavy sets have more skin showing than others. But you're not forced to wear it if you don't want to.

Honestly I want to know what game they are playing because they make it seem like all the armor sets are steel bikinis.

Actually the characters/armor weren't revealing at all i thought it was very subtle and showed off the sexuality of the female characters well, nothing ive seen so far makes me think.

"man if someone who didn't play games came and seen me playing this they would think its porn"

Its a real refreshing from from the GW1 styles though most of them covered up alot, some caster classes showed alot of skin though. Skin and if i remember correctly most of the late game Warrior Armors for female for example if was fully geared no skin so i think they took that idea and extended it into this game with most of the armor.

I mean not to bash on Tera or anything..id feel kinda dirty playing that with someone watching.

Sexy outfits are fine..then there is Tera

Also one of the best parts of Guildwars was the ability to mix and match individual pieces and not be punished for it im glad to see it coming back in gw2 :)

this was my fav set :D http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Ritualist_Ancient_armor

I was thinking of Tera too. Everyone saying OMG BEST MMO EVER IT WINS EVERYTHING! Then you have threads like this on a more polished fun game... makes ya think :)

Exactly. Tera is pretty much porn in video game form. The quests are standard boring fare, the environment is pretty, the combat isnt as awe inspiring as everyone claims and theres jiggle physics. Im fully convinced that Korea has a game developer research lab comlletely devoted to jiggle physics. Besides theres porn for everyone in tera, and that just creeps me out...especially those cat kid people race.

If MMO's have taught us anything its that you can never make everyone happy. What if people playing male characters want them to run around in skimpy lingerie? While I agree that you shouldn't promote stereotypes in games, I don't see how a somewhat scantily clad woman stabbing monsters in the face with a sword promotes a stereotype.

I wouldn't be outraged or anything if they added an option to "cover up" female characters (or strip male ones... no homo) but I wouldn't applaud it either. First and foremost its a private video game company- they can do whatever they want. Second this is their fantasy world- who's to say our values and opinions apply there? The women in the game are treated no differently from the men, and they wear what they want. If my character shared my sense of style he'd look a hell of a lot different from what he does now.

I would so play as a fat slob with a big hairy belly hanging out of my half shirt with 6 chins and a foot of ear hair with male pattern baldness on top. Male or female. Just walking around in the world would be trolling everyone around. And could you imagine the crying people would do when you dominated them in pvp? Pure entertainment.

I'm just upset I can't be a Norn lady without looking/sounding like I'm a handful of hormone replacement shots from transing out. It's really amazing that both the Humans and the Norns in this game ever manage to continue their races seeing as the Norn ladies are so handsome and the human dudes are so fabulous. I find that more implausible than the fireballs.

I have to agree with this. I don't like playing overly large characters that make it seem like they're running really, really slowly. Even the smallest scaled Norn seems to run sooooooo slow :< And I really like some of the hairstyles the Norn gets~

I'm used to the slow running after 6 years of being a Tauren, it's the fact that their neck girthiness could make even Henry Rollins feel inadequate. I do love that Mohican coif they get though :/

All my norns are top end of the scale big. Cause if they are gonna make you big the be BIG. All my asura will be super small end of the scale for the same reason.

Don't get me started on hair styles again pleaseeee. (search previous threads if you need clarification) lol

Seriously though don't. We went through epic polls and indecision for just hairstyles, not to mention professions, then names. Don't get him started if you value your sanity.

Trist. That thread made me do a literal irls facepalm.

And dontchu say stupid Icelandic anything, thats my adopted country you're blaspheming.

....this again. I mean come on - they didn't give Charr females breasts to keep it realistic and true to their strong animalistic nature. Why is this being made into such a big issue. There are armor sets that a revealing but also there are many sets that cover up and are much more appropriate for those who are writing these articles - just like in real life. If you want to cover up you can, if you want to wear a shirt and pants you can, if you wan to show your boobs you can......*sigh*

Charr ladies should have boobs. Six of them. I am displeased.
