I lean towards PvE and just exploring maps but I really don't care what I do in game as long I get to make penis jokes back and forth with some cool people.
Which previous MMO's or online games have you played and how long for?
I played WoW, Tera, and Rift for about a day or two and then got bored with them. The only MMO I played seriously was Final Fantasy XI. I played it for a couple of years off and on but I always quit because I had a hard time balancing real life responsibilities with my desire to play it constantly. Well I was 15 and had no self-restraint.
Were you a part of a guild? What was your experience?
I was part of a guild in FFXI. At that time I was 15-16 years old and the youngest one in a small guild of about 20-30 people. The core of the guild was made by 2-3 married couples who were friends. So the guild's goal was just to enjoy playing with some friends. I was always treated as an equal even though we constantly made fun of each other.
In FFXI your character lost 10% of his level experience if he/she died. Therefore deleveling was quite common if someone just leveled and then died right away. Which made a lot of people very bitchy and mad when someone messed up and caused everyone to die but this never happened within my guild even when one day we died about 8 times trying to kill a boss and everyone deleveled twice.
Because we all shared that fun mentality we also did a lot of stupid stuff like training all the goblins in the Valkrum Dunes and just running away from them and then being cursed at by all the unlucky parties that got caught by the goblin train.
I haven't seen such an attitude anywhere else but seeing your podcasts has made me think that your guild has the same spirit.
How did you hear about the Guild?
Guild Wars 2 Guru posted some podcasts on July 25. I listened to Tales of Tyria and since it was quite long I didn't want to check the other ones. Today I checked out the three other ones. I quickly got bored of the other two but then decided to check your last one which was podcast #6. Right from the start it caught my attention and I ended up watching all of it and dieing of laughter without noticing that almost two hours passed.
What will you bring to the ALTTABME community? (Chatty? Skilled? Funny? Helping?)
I'm pretty laid back. I don't mind at all logging in and just helping other members for the day. As long as I had fun it really doesn't matter if I progress consistently every day. In real life I'm analytical and finance themed ( I better be, that's what I'm studying) therefore I like to plan things out and spend time trying to make money in game through the Auction House to improve my crafting.
Will Arcanix be the only guild you join?
Are you saying you [Arcanix] are not into monogamous relationships? Trust me, I can satify you.
Is there anything else you would like to throw in here at the end?
I know you guys have already reached your guild cap. I know the reason for the cap is to keep the intimate feeling among guild members. Having checked your guild roster you are at 116 members and the human brain is wired to handle 150 meaningful connections (if Malcolm Gladwell is to be believed) so there is still a bit of room for the guild to grow and I hope I can help with that. So to finish off my application I want to say thanks for reading it and if I'm accepted you can expect more random science facts. I just ruined my chances with that science statement. Fuck.
