Fysiks Fun is a work in progress that aim to more realism to the minecraft world and to make it come alive with natural phenomena. It does this by adding a number of physics effects as well as by adding a few ecology based effects.

The former category of effects include making all liquids finite and to flow in a "natural" way, a full world computation of forces and blocks that fall/break depending on the forces acting on them, and trees that fall sideways when you chop them down.
All of these effects are applied to every block in the world (ie. all the water in oceans, all the blocks under/over the player in the world).

The later category of effects include plant life that consume water and that spreads by themselves, and rewritten AI routines for animals to eat and spread in the world, an eco-system for the water coming from rain, falling over the terrain humidifying underground, evaporating into steam based on heat and sunlight and finally coming back as rain again when the steam has moved with the winds.

Features:


  • Full world physics of all solid blocks. Falling when not supported by other blocks, and breaking when they support too many/too heavy blocks. Different structural strengths for different blocks.
  • Liquids move and flow in the "natural" way, even oceans are simulated as a finite body of liquid (!)
  • Volcanoes, that grow by emitting lava (which cools to stone)
  • Trees are falling in a "natural" way when they are cut down.
  • Turbines for generating power from waterfalls and steam. Redstone sensors for detecting presence and amount of pressure from liquids and gases.
  • Rain, sunshine, evaporation form an ecology where water is added in the form of rain or underground humidity, evaporates from heat and sunlight and finally comes back as rain again.
  • Landscapes may erode when water is flowing over it, slowly forming new natural rivers.
  • Vegetation (tallgrass, flowers, trees, crops) consume nearby water. They spread (slowly) under good conditions and die (slowly) under bad conditions.
  • Animals (cows, pigs, sheep and chicken) have an AI that actively seek out and eat vegetation. If they can't eat for a long time they die. If they do eat they may have babies.
  • Heat from active fires and lava slowly evaporates nearby water. So if you want to keep you underground mine dry and tidy you may want to start some fires
  • Water may seep through dirt/sand/gravel (sometimes even cobblestone) - so don't build your big water falls from those materials. Disabled in latest release.
  • Physics for gases, such as steam and pyroclastic clouds released by volcanoes.
  • Enable/disable different modules for each of these features, so you can eg. only use the fluid dynamics or only the dynamic plants, falling trees etc.
 
Too bad it´s basically unusable on servers. Unless you have a VERY beefy machine for the server.
