nVIDIA Makes a Bold Move

Ultra CHEZ

It's better with cheddar!

Announced last night at a conference in Las Vegas (I think), nVIDIA revealed it's entry into the portable aming market with the shield. Whether this cross between a PC and a handheld will turn out to be a match made in heaven or demonspawn is yet to be seen.

As for me, I'm going to wait until they announce a price.

been reading up on this, think it could have a market. reminds me of the wii U functionality only for PC.

besides the shield, I've also been intereted to hear more about this product.

waiting for CES to hear some feedback on how well it actually runs games.

I think you're talking about the Piston:

The shield looks cool. It's size is between the xbox controller and the wii U. It also has hdmi out so you can use a bigger screen to play. One of the coolest things on the shield is that it can play games that you have installed on your comp through your wifi. Especially steam games.

The other announcement from nvidia that I think is awesome is the new chipset for mobile video cards that is 3 times better than anything else out there right now.

Yet another Android portable device.

Make me a controller with a Blue Ray/DvD ROM player, several hundred gigs of memory, and LTE and let me play GW2 on the bus.

I was never really interested in mobile gaming, however it is a growing technology and I foresee a bright future as more and more people prefer to game on the go. But for now it is still in its growing stages, so I'll just stick with my gaming desktop for now and keep tabs on it.

true, but I doubt it comes with all the peripherals that a computer comes with like a mouse, keyboard, joystick, game-pad etc. I bet you have to shell out another 500 bucks for all the stuff you are gonna use on that tablet. Still cool though.

It features an attachable keyboard, not sure if it ships in box or additional fee, but it shows one.
