They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. I say, good intentions and promises.

Now, don't get me wrong... I do think most people sincerely (at the moment they make a promise) intend to keep it.
But we are human. We fail. Often.

I may be cyncial, but in recent years/months of my life I have become really disillusioned by promises people have made to me. Friends, family, lovers, acquaintances... you name it. So, what do you do? Just not believe in them anymore? Hope for the best but then struggle through the worst?

I am thinking I may just boycott promises (making them myself I mean). Because I don't think I can or want to live up to that or the repercussions of letting someone down.

Broken promises can range in severity from mild to life-altering.

I don't want to count on them anymore. Even promises I make to myself (such as boycotting promises :p).

What do you think about it? Do you even care if someone keeps one?

What other acronyms would PROMISE stand for, for you? Feel free to have a field day with that one. :)
