What role do you wish to play in the guild? For example: PvP, PvE, Casual/Social
All of them. I'm looking forward to the WvWvW with a group of friends, PvE is always better with a group, and I'm always up for some fun social activities if there's nothing else going on. I plan on taking a different approach to GW2 and enjoying the various activities the game is going to provide. I'm looking forward to getting immersed in the game world and not solely focues on my level and gear.
Which previous MMO's or online games have you played and how long for?
I started with MMOs in 2001 with EQ1 and played it until EQ2 was launched. I moved on to EQ2 until I had to take a break when my fiance and I bought our house and did a full remodel ourselves. This was about a 3-6 month break from regular gaming.
Since then I have played a large variety of games for various amounts of time. Without any specific order, the games I have played for longer than a few months are: EQ1, EQ2, WoW, VG, LoTRO, WAR, AoC, DDO, and Rift.
I have played many others but didn't say with them very long. I will load up some non MMOs (LoL, NWN2, D3, SC2, or Skyrim) when the mood strikes.
Were you a part of a guild? What was your experience?
I have been a part of several different guilds in the 12 years of MMO gaming. My first was in EQ1 and was an awesome experience. I played a Cleric and tended to be one of the people who would stay up to help rez the fallen or help them get their corpses back with my Bard (Runspeed, Invis, and Lev made for quick return runs).
I was in a couple guilds in EQ2, LoTRO, WoW, and Rift. The Old Timers Guild was one of my favorites being a group of laid back, casual, mature, like minded people. I recently returned to WoW on a fresh server for a new start and have found a group of folks in Mythdren (on Wyrmrest Accord (sp)) and I'm having a good time with them so far.
I have led a couple guilds: Adrastos in EQ2 at launch then I gave leadership to an officer when we left the game for the remodel. Adrastos in AoC at launch, but I also gave leadership away to an officer there as well after the second month. Ghosts in Rift, but gave leadership to an officer after a few month when I quit. Finally I created Casuals in WoW for a personal shared bank for friends and family. Adrastos was successful in both games at first (top 10 in EQ2 for the first few months, second guild to own a keep in AoC) but the officers that took over didn't have the dedication to keep them succesful.
How did you hear about the Guild?
I saw your video of the 50 Char Mes. It was nice to see a guild that has so many members that would take the time to do something outside of the normal PvP/PvE and have a different kind of fun.
What will you bring to the ALTTABME community? (Chatty? Skilled? Funny? Helping?)
I'm not too chatty, but I like to be a little active in guild chat. I will greet, congradulate, and chat a bit if there is a conversation that I can relate to. My skills in GW2 are to be determined, but I haven't played a game yet that I wasn't capable of handling the responsibility of my character. That may sound a little "elitist", but I'm just trying to state that I have a skill level high enough that it hasn't gotten me in any trouble in the past. I tend to be helpful when I can and I don't have something going on. I'm that guy that will do the "hit and run" with a buff as you run by him somewhere, toss you a rez if I see you drop nearby and couldn't get a heal off on you, or help you drop a group of mobs if I see you got too much aggro.
Will Arcanix be the only guild you join?
Yes, if I am accepted it will be my only guild.
Is there anything else you would like to throw in here at the end?
I am still unsure of my main. I enjoyed playing several of the classes during the various beta events and I probably will not decide until I get to the character creation and have to finally make that choice. I tend to play more than one character so I am a bit of an alt addict, but this tends to help me understand other classes and be able to play a role that is needed.
I am back to school as a full time student working on my BA in Software Engineering (will finish up in a few months and move on to my masters). I have a fiance and a fourteen year old daughter that require my attention outside of the game. I tend to get my gaming time in during the AM and afternoon (10am - 5pm) and depending on what is going on with the girls some evening play time as well.
**Had a long day remodeling the bathroom here (water damage) and working on the car (overheating) so I'm a bit tired. Do me a favor and take it easy on the app review for me. It would be much appreciated.
