Munchkin is fantastic when played with the right people. I have a brother in law with me sense of humor. I swear to God he threw a fit when I hit him with the magic missile while he was fighting a monster.

Settlers of Catan is great as well, but my kids got into it so I'm missing most of the pieces now.

Never played Settlers of Catan (or whatnot). Most tabletopping (?) I've ever done is playing Risk Legacy with Demetrio and yogismo which got real aggressive real quick.

As far as gambling is concerned, we play a semi-regular game with some of our buddies in the District, and my roommate and I actually play deep-stack heads-up tournaments against each other to see who has to do the chores around the house.

A play-money tourney for some sort of prize would be fun imo - all the sites mentioned earlier (pokerstars Full tilt etc.) still operate Free versions in the US despite their monetary counterparts only being legal overseas.

I absolutely despise free/play money games. With no risk there's no tension, and people just play sloppily and don't care. "Yeah, I'll go all in 2/7 pre flop because whateva" /flop is 7,7,2 "Yeah, go I'm awesome"
