12/13, most of these are either "did you take middle school science" or "do you know what the scientific method is"

Got the fracking one wrong. My gut told me it was natural gas but for some reason I thought that made no sense.

I guess all the people who got the atmosphere one wrong just have never had anyone tell them "hey, look"

I never heard of fracking either but what I did to get it right was eliminate the others:
Coal is mined, diamonds are mined to (or won by severe compression of carbon... which is really hard and isn't very profitable).
For silicon I know that silicon wafers can be produced with the use of sand (sand is composed of silicon dioxide). Getting the silica sand is done by quarrying, then it's melted in a furnace. The silicon settles at the bottom and you get 99% pure silicon from silica.
Never heard the word "fracking" used for it so: Fracking = a way to get natural gas.
 
12/13 idk which I got wrong... May have been the atmosphere. But I havent a clue. Could some one spoiler all the answers?
 
"Fracking" was coined from fracturing the ground to tap the natural gas. It is a process that unfortunately can contaminate underground aquifers and drinking water sources.

And in defense of my score, I am a hella-long-ways-away from middle school science. Like over three decades, so I'm surprised I got any of the answers right.
 
Fracking involves fracturing layers of rock with a hydraulic pump in order to access natural gas reserves. There are parts of the United States where this is being done somewhat recklessly, such that natural gas gets into the ground water:

LOL Not at all Red. No one here was condescending. I'm just butt hurt I missed four questions. Older & Wiser does not apply in my case.
 
This is really interesting!
I'm sure that me getting 13/13 has to do with the fact that I grew up with the internet and study industrial sciences in Belgium.
 
13, no college. But I am an instructor in basic EM theory, so the test played my strong suit. Fracking shows up a lot in the news out here in Texas, so I was just lucky to know about it.
